I do take the point that it might not have been the best way to issue such a warning but I dont think it worth getting in a tizzy about. There is a bad situation and we don't need it getting worse. We are not talking about moorland fires. We are talking about homes & streets burning down...
Football is back:
Darlington 0 v Worksop 2 - sigh. New season, same problems, same inability to defend.
Bedford 2 v Darlington 3 - last minute winner. Papers over the cracks of poor recruitment in the summer. Suspect we are in for a hard season.
the internet appears to be full of metallurgists and track engineers who think that we should go back to jointed rail. Apparently that has gap to allow it breathe and CWR doesn't so can take higher temperatures!
There are also a lot of internet people who seem to think the rail in this country...
sounds like standard LNWR stuff. Water off a ducks back sadly these days. LNWR just don't seem to get things like communication right or make sure staff are visible on the ground when there is a fan / brown stuff interaction. It is retreat to minimum safe distance at the first opportunity...
NYMR - de facto steam ban as only oil burners in use ;) Staff indicate situation under review daily but without lots of rain it is unlikely to change soon.
They are getting twitchy about the steam gala in September...............
I was on the NYMR on Saturday. 1200 train from Pickering to Whitby & 1710 return. Train was less busy than I expected but still well loaded. NYMR had been really clear on their socials and website that there was no steam (other than Omaha which wasn't in service on the day we were there) and I...
For the first time in ages I was caught up in ECML disruption. I was travelling from Leeds > Kings Cross > MKC. Passengers were being sent from Leeds to Sheffield for EMT to London or XC to Birmingham and I just couldn't face that knowing EMR would be rammed and XC would be awful.
I hung...
That doesn't seem like much of a mitigator! Wait x years until we run a proper service but not for PITA's like you because we are going to bulldoze your grotty little station. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks for your custom over the years!
As I said we cant just give up. We need a better...
I am not going to repat what is being said on local facebook groups about railway staff. You can guess.
Regardless. As an industry we cant just give up. We have to look at mitigators beyond get a bus. Keeping the show on the road train wise must be the first priority. Passengers have to come...
ok - but how is that different from any point in the last 40 years? Why is it now that this new and exciting excuse to give up running a service has been deployed?
Do TfW, GWR and Northern have these problems with class 150 trains and if not what are they doing that LNWR arent?
LNWR have withdrawn Marston Vale line services after 1130 today (12th) and tomorrow (13th) because of "hot temperatures affecting train units on this line"
Oddly they wont say what the issue is........................................
