Fantasy: Using your imagination, what companies could you imagine running a franchise?

Tesco Metro and Tesco Express already cover the entire country.

Are the class 88's the last locomotives we will see built?

At least in the near future how are you going to power wagons that drop stuff out of the bottom and have stuff dropped in them through the top? Most modern wagons involve one of not both of those two.

Poland local trains - Taryfa Małopolska

Totally agree about just getting a ticket at Krakow Glowny on the day.

Poland local trains - Taryfa Małopolska

As Andrew E said the salt mines are well worth a visit. Regarding Auschwitz, to be honest I would consider a coach tour. It is going to be freezing at this time of year. Auschwitz is a bit of a walk from the station and Birkenau is a more substantial walk from there, then back to the station. A...

    Juliano's World Frenzy/Tech's Trip Reports

Glad you are having a good time. Hope you are enjoying the workouts, something I should do more of as I get older, try not to put too much pressure on yourself on your hols though. At the end of the day though if it makes you happy go for it. Have you tried the Tapas yet?

What are your worst workplace cockups...?

Ouch. A mate of mine had a Renault Laguna estate as a company car which he rolled in the Peaks. He got away with a few bruises. The worst thing that happened was when he got a grilling off the company director at the company Christmas do months later. His previous company car was an Audi 200...

Branson overrules VTWC - Daily Mail once again to be available onboard

We still have a free press. Virgin are allowed to sell what the hell they want though, doesn't Boris support that?

If you took over East Midlands Trains, what would you do?

I'm guessing the day trip market from Nottingham to Llandudno isn't that big these days and isn't entirely down to the number of changes.

    General Knowledge Quiz

Sorry guys, I just scrolled to the end. Glad I got it right but my answer is void. Go with DaleCoopers question. It was there first to be fair. I thought it was too good to be true, I haven't got one right for a while. Ha ha.

    General Knowledge Quiz

The Australian flag has six white stars, the New Zealand one has four red stars with white surrounds. If I had to expand the New Zealand flag has the Southern Cross on it, the Australian flag has a star for each state. That last bit is a guess apart from the Southern Cross.

Has the Chiltern Main Line extended London's commuter belt

It is basically a life I can't relate to. I live in a very nice area of Liverpool a 30 minute walk from my office in the suburbs. I get several foreign holidays a year and a very active social life. On the downside/plus side I currently have no other half and have never had kids. I would love...

Branson overrules VTWC - Daily Mail once again to be available onboard

If Virgin did it would be odd but they don't so it isn't. Are you just trying to prove they don't sell stuff they don't agree with?

Branson overrules VTWC - Daily Mail once again to be available onboard

It hasn't been banned, you just can't buy it on on the train. If you are a Daily Mail reader I'm not entirely surprised you tried to misrepresent what has actually happened. They only used to sell and give out the FT, Times and Daily Mail so it is hardly like it is the only "banned" newspaper.

    Interesting Worldwide Railways

When I travelled from Arica to Tacna it was in a taxi which in the UK would be counted as illegally overloaded. I would imagine it would be interesting but not particularly scenically beautiful by train, also if it is still running it is incredibly unreliable which is the last thing you need in...

Great read that Tech and I'm glad the trip is going well so far, will look forward to any photos you post when you get to it (Just enjoy yourself, don't faff around doing that now). Have you tried any of the local tapas?

First rolling stock you can remember travelling on?

Some variety of first gen DMU from either West Allerton to Lime Street in the late 70's. The first specific train I remember was hauled by 87004 from Lime Street to Euston around a similar time.

If you took over East Midlands Trains, what would you do?

Make the Liverpool to Norwich service loco hauled and spend loads on booze.

Don't worry about it mate. Just think about what you say. We all need to some times.

The age profile of RailUKforums members?

Ha ha, fair play. Things change. It would be nice to be 21 and know what I know now.
