    Supermarket Update

Some people are still absolutely horrified when they encounter 'maskless' people in shops, unfortunately... I know this for a fact because Mrs Freightmaster works in a supermarket and doesn't wear a mask (she tried for a week last July and nearly fainted twice!), but she makes sure to wear her...

Step 3 confirmed for 17th May

Correct, which is why a more transmissible/less virulent variant is a good thing, despite the media's current panic porn!! MARK

    Supermarket Update

The one thing which strikes me is most of these announcements seem to be done by voiceover artists with a Yorkshire/Northern accent - or is that just because I live in the North and the Southern stores have their announcements done in a posh home counties accent?! o_O MARK

People who prefer the restricted things

This. The past twelve months have been an absolute eyeopener for me as to how easy it is to brainwash/'gaslight' the gullible general public into a state of unquestioning, cult-like obedience irrespective of the actual facts/risks... To be honest it feels like the Emperor's New Clothes - and...

Scotland - Framework out of the pandemic - 23rd February 2021

I thought they were being revoked (or at least changing from law to 'guidance') on June 21st in England, which is the date of the fourth and final stage of the current lockdown easing roadmap? Are you saying you believe there will be fifth/sixth stages of the roadmap, not implemented until...

Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

Hardly conducive to having a relaxing weekend away/short break in a German city through, is it? So if we take "restriction free" to include mandatory invasive testing which surely must count as a punitive restriction in anyone's book, the answer to the "where can we go?" part of the question...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

Correct - the infamous "hammer and dance" strategy that (as far as I am aware) no European country has actually employed... If anyone is interested (and has at least an hour to spare!), here is the original article from last March...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

Agreed - last Autumn, the WHO estimated the typical population IFR in 'developed' countries to be around 0.6% Which ironically is not a million miles from the 500k that Neil Ferguson famously predicted last Spring, although to be fair, that figure was a 'worst case scenario' with no mitigation...

22nd February - Roadmap out of the pandemic, lifting of restrictions.

This is a really good point which many people gloss over, particularly in respect to the first lockdown; I vividly remember roads/pubs/shops/public transport being eerily quiet for several weeks before March 23rd last year and big office-based companies began the switch to working from home in...
