Have electric vehicles been "oversold" to the detriment of public transport, walking and cycling?

so a 12 hr overnight charge on 13A will only half charge the battery. So over 130 miles trip from home to daughters, plus some tripping round locally where she lives, so battery 75% discharged. I dont think the 12 hr charge would get me home. Thats on to of the fact they have 5 vehicles* so...

    Appleby Horse Fair on Saturday

The roads become nightmares. Lots of horse and carts holding everything up. And the roads are narrowed by them camping on the grass verge and encroaching on the road. Its a pain as far away as Settle.

How could rail services be improved in the Manchester area?

If we are going for trams, what is the maximum length of route? Manchester - Oldham - Rochdale is quite a run on a tram, and I am sure people travel by tram from Manchester centre to the stops between Oldham and Rochdale. Do people at the extreme ends of a new tram route regard conversion to a...

How could rail services be improved in the Manchester area?

In the real world you have to run services that meet the demand. If you struggle to fill a 2 car 150 every hour, I doubt you will fill a 2 car every 15 minutes, even if there is pent up demand. Which is why Garsdale gets 8 trains a day each way, and Keighley gets 4 an hour.

I think I have been in the tile hill loop in the 90's further west, does anyone remember the electrified down loop through Adderley Park stn? Think freight only and the down platform was a one sided island. Must have been lifted about 1988 ish. They rebuilt the station to have step free after...

Have electric vehicles been "oversold" to the detriment of public transport, walking and cycling?

if your current car still goes its probably cheaper to keep it going. modern cars can happily do over 200,000 miles. Your emissions will be lower because there is not the environmental cost of making a new car.

Is this rumor about electric/hybrid cars true

A shorted battery will catch fire. The fire will be very hot and not extinguishable with normal fire service kit. so they just let it burn out. Plenty of stuff on you tube if you do a search. Here is one -

TRIVIA. Bored tunnels with more than two tracks.

I think you could call Marc brunels Thames tunnels 'bored' as are much of the Yerkes* tubes. All long before TBM's, which are post WW2 technology *Yerkes was a private developer who built the Piccadilly, Northern and Bakerloo lines in the early 20th century.

do what council tax do. take 1/10th monthly so always a bit up front. then a 2 month holiday at the end. First instalment by credit/debit card. If DD bounces then you probably have the cancellation fee in the bank. But better still, subcontract the loan part to a 3rd party. railway gets the...

0% interest credit card to buy season ticket?

pity the railway dont offer to pay an annual by instalments like insurers do. Mind insurance rates of interest can be a tad high too.
