I just bumped into @Peterthegreat on the footbridge at Swinton (South Yorkshire) to view the Vintage Trains Castle Class railtour.

I’m assuming it was the ECS back to Crewe. Does anyone know which 47’s are likely to appear on the Scotland-York Statesman on Friday please?

It probably is the least used on the KWVR, but it’s positively bustling compared to some of the other stations mentioned.

Do you know if the 37’s to Wakefield last ran yesterday, or if they will end next Sunday please?

I’d imagine that Newtondale Halt on the NYMR and the intermediate stops on Ecclesbourne Valley and Peak Rail would all be contenders, as well as any on the Snowdon Mountain Railway.

They should have a second engine inside, just in case… Well, I went out for it anyway, although mainly for the RHTT 37’s that preceded it…

They only have a handful of working locomotives that can handle heavy trains, the Standard 4 being one. It’s one of the better sounding and more impressive locos on the railway I think.

I think it will run, it would be embarrassing for Northern otherwise. It will be other routes that get short-formed to pay for it. I did recently hear of a plan for TP to pick up the stops between Scunthorpe and Doncaster to free up a Northern unit.
