P&O Ferries - mass redundancies without consultation

That was just a very small number of people shouting very loudly about something they knew nothing about.

Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

In reality, anyone who really wants to travel any time soon will have had all three doses. The only reason I got my third dose was to go to Amsterdam next weekend, for example. I don't agree with the travel ban but I also don't see too many people being directly affected by it, definitely not...

Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

I also suspect the unvaccinated make up a tiny market too.

    Blackburn - Liverpool (last service)

I did wonder about this thread at the time last night - I was on the 2212 from MLH and it seemed to be losing time which would make the connection at PRE very sketchy. Glad that you managed to get back ok; the comment upthread about leaving at half time might not have been a bad shout in...

    Food prices

A spectacularly poor example, given you need specific skills/qualifications to do those jobs. It isn't free to get the entitlement to drive a bus or truck you know? It's not about people who 'can't be bothered' to work either, that's just lazy rhetoric.

Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

Are the Dutch still insisting on a pre-arrival test for UK arrivals? Would be quite a stark difference between EU and non-EU arrivals if so.

    Food prices

Thought I'd stumbled across the comments section of a Daily Mail article then. The ignorance is astounding.

Does a TPE ”Airport Advance Single” mandate a specific connection?

No, it's a TPE specific promotion - and I think limited to just Manchester Airport.

The beginning of the end for the 100ml rule

For a rule that was only brought in temporarily it's not half stuck around a fair while.

    Food prices

Everyone who regularly shops at Tesco will be aware of the existence of the Clubcard, and aware of the benefits that owning one comes with.

Petrol and diesel prices - how much have you been paying?

Saw a couple of Shell garages charging 179.9p/litre for diesel last night. Surely you'd have to be really desperate to pay that?

Petrol and diesel prices - how much have you been paying?

It'd gone up to 156.9p by the time I filled up after work! I've never seen it go up during the day before, never mind by that much!

Petrol and diesel prices - how much have you been paying?

Petrol at my local Tesco is 151.9p a litre today. The 99p/litre days of April 2020 are a distant memory. :'(

March fare increases - where to find them?

EasyJet's flexible product also comes in at £200+ return on such a route, with significantly less flexibilty than an Off Peak Return. No leisure passenger is purchasing either fare, mind.

    Football

It's all very weird. No one was bothered in the slightest during his 5 years there yet now it's worth kicking them out of the ground for. All this bandwagon jumping for something that was never proven in a criminal court.

When can you decline to show a ticket?

I do feel like if they really wanted to gate it, they could. VT (as was) used to block the ramp down to P3/4 regularly too - though I've not seen Avanti do it. They tend to do that at peak times. I recall receiving an incorrectly issued UFN from one of them positioned there once.

    Football

I must say that the quality of the league this year is at an all time low. We're nothing special and neither are half the teams around us yet we all find ourselves in the top 6 heading into March. Our run in is favourable but we're notorious for going on a death spiral in the spring, hopefully...

Crucial win for us today earlier on, along with most other results going our way in the 3pm games. Still a long way to go yet though.

    Blackburn - Liverpool (last service)

So the away end (the Darwen End) is the furthest end from both Blackburn and Mill Hill stations. We've started putting away fans in the upper tier of the stand, which will add to the length of time taken to exit. Away fans won't be held for any length of time after full time but I can't envisage...

    Blackburn - Liverpool (last service)

Yep, the Colne-Preston is the all stations stopper. The York-Blackpool only serves Accrington, Blackburn and Preston along that corridor.
