    185143-Trip Publishing Expected?

Sounds like you enjoyed it, though I can't see why (VT diversion aside)! 507/508s are awful IMO.

Validity of ticket Hoylake - Stevenage

"Not valid on trains timed to depart: •London Euston after 04:29 and before 09:26 or after 15:00 and before 18:45" The fact that 16:07 (and 17:07) is well within that afternoon restriction means you were in the wrong.

Memories of VTWC Calling at Carstairs??

I was replying to the comment that said that it still happens, which isn't the case.

    Huddersfield signalling re-control works

The 1120 MAN-SHF and 1742 DON-MAN were full in the rear 3 leaving Piccadilly and the front 3 leaving Doncaster, but no one was standing, I didn't look at the other unit on each train.

Guard closing the door before a passenger has got off.

Or sometimes the lights surrounding the door open button don't light up, and by the time you realise that they're broken the door has locked again

How much discretion does a train manager have?

I've been allowed to travel an hour earlier than the train I was booked on before, on a VTWC service. There was no real reason for being allowed, very minor delays (10 minutes, if that) in the Birmingham area meant I wanted to get to where I was going ASAP in case it got worse. I haven't...

Virgin Trains (VTWC) new livery being introduced

If they're planning on giving all the 390s and 221s a new livery before the franchise is out I think they should forward the details of whoever is doing it to Northern, they need a hand

Trivia: Your favourite cross-platform/same platform connections

Doesn't always work but the connection off the York-Blackpool service onto the Blackpool-Manchester service at Preston (xx47 or xx48 arrival to xx50 departure) is usually on the P1/P2 island. Handy for getting home after a match at Blackburn if I'm feeling like paying for LEY-BBN instead of...

Was that the game we won 3-1? I seem to remember us beating one of the 'big teams' at home a matter of weeks before our relegation was confirmed.

    Mileage Competition 2017

That's what I'm doing, and following our relegation there's quite a lot of 'new' grounds for me. Bradford, Rochdale and Shrewsbury away all before the end of September should ramp my mileage up a bit.

We sold Shearer for £15 million 21 years ago this week. He'd be one of those players going for upwards of £80-90 million in today's market. Cheeky little plug for my Facebook page dedicated to my quest to get to at least one football match every weekend (harder than it first seems...
