    Football

Definitely the former, I think the bus was empty at the time so the latter escaped

What do you think is the best age for a child to start using public transport independently?

I started getting the bus to school on my own when I started Year 7, so about a week after my 11th birthday. By the time I was 15 I was going all over the country by train alone but that's definitely not typical.

    Doncaster Sheffield Airport to reopen?

As said above, that model worked extremely well for Ryanair. Wizz Air do appear to have completely ripped the pants off it though. Maybe there just isn't room for two massive LCCs* in Europe? *I'm classing EasyJet as a step above Wizz and Ryanair, though they're obviously still an LCC.

    Football

Quoted from the football banning order thread: The Wisła Kraków story is really fascinating reading from an English point of view, it makes even the most complicated ownership issues here look like a walk in the park! I believe that the clubs very deep connection to the cities they call home...

    Football banning orders

As far as I know, there's only one match in the country where that is required and it happens to involve the club I support. The 'riots' only involved one set of fans, in their own town centre, after the first meeting between the sides in 17 years. Having followed my club up and down the...

    Football banning orders

You vastly overstate the extent of the hooliganism issue. In England in 2022 hooliganism is virtually non-existent. FBO's are often used not against these 'organised crime groups' (rarely seen outside Danny Dyer films), but against people who really aren't deserving of one (see DarloRich's post...

    Football banning orders

Maybe so, but the steps were wrong then and wrong now. Sledgehammer to crack a nut. I do actually agree with this one. It puts pressure on the clubs to help target the troublemakers. 1659538094 I don't disagree, but that doesn't detract from my point. S59 is a load of bovine excrement too...

    Football banning orders

The above terms mentioned are the generic terms that are applied in the vast majority of casis AIUI. The most concerning part about FBO's for me is that there doesn't even need to be an offence committed (and therefore no conviction required). There just needs to be a belief that the banning...

Police want travel card data to track suspicious rail passengers. How much is our privacy under threat?

This is a topic that's definitely better discussed over in General Discussion but the ease in which an FBO can be given to someone and the wide range of things it can cover is very worrying, even for people who behave at the footy.

Police want travel card data to track suspicious rail passengers. How much is our privacy under threat?

Ignoring the fact that they're handed out like goody bags at a kid's birthday party, do you really want people subject to FBO's to be placed under house arrest whenever their team play? Some FBO's ban the subject from all rail travel on matchdays, meaning a Plymouth fan would be violating their...

Police want travel card data to track suspicious rail passengers. How much is our privacy under threat?

That's because the prevailing viewpoint on this forum is that all football fans are thugs who should be allowed nowhere near the rail network, or indeed society in general. ;)

Petrol and diesel prices - how much have you been paying?

177.9p for E10 at the Shell at Haydock (M6 J23) today. The cheapest I've seen in a while and the first time I've filled up at a Shell garage in a long time!

Competition between different transport modes in the UK

...until public transport fares catch up, which rest assured they will. It's very rare that public transport is cheaper than my car when there's more than just me travelling. And even when it is cheaper, it's not viable for any number of reasons. The car is king in the UK and will be for the...

Ironic coming from somebody who's last *73* posts have been in the General Discussion section, but we digress.

It's really quite crazy how you appear to be claiming to know better than someone who was actually there at the time!

Issue of ToD with Chase Debit Card purchased with Scotrail

If she uses PayPal then it will be set to any card collection (though she won't get the 1% cashback that Chase offer).

Petrol and diesel prices - how much have you been paying?

My local Tesco still a rather steep 186.9. The premium stuff is 193.9 so I'm currently undertaking an experiment to see if it's worth the extra!

    Wolverhampton to Nuneaton permitted routes

The relevant people in all the TOCs will take an interest in every thread in this subforum in case something of interest pops up (especially threads with 'permitted routes' in the title, such as this one).

Of course, these aren't downsides to anyone who isn't xenophobic.

UK Flight Disruption - Summer 2022

I suspect they'll let you on the morning flight, space permitting; see what it says in 'Manage My Booking'. I'm not sure whether they'd have to pay for the hotel as you've chosen to fly out the next day. You'll definitely get the right answer on FlyerTalk.
