Well i've already pre-ordered Kuju Rail Simulator. Microsoft have a history of not repeating their mistakes, and I would think they will await the release of KRS and basiacally build on what Kuju have done - be one step better.

"Create your own model railway" is an extrememley basic game - I got it for christmas. "Trainz Ultimate Collection" I also have. It's really outdated tbh, there are quite a few versions of it later than that, i.e. Trainz Passenger Edition 2004 or Trainz 2006.

I wouldn't use 'em, mate. I've used them for both internal components and speakers. Both are now broken and I have recieved no support or a refund. I'd reccomend a custom build.
