UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

The 281 mile range is one that you would struggle to reproduce in normal driving. At https://ev-database.org/uk/car/3491/Kia-EV2-61-kWh the range on the combined mode in mild weather is 245 miles, and with my EV3, the combined mode is much closer to the range that I get.

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Charity shops are businesses that only make money for the charity when they make a profit. They also have to pay to dispose of things they can't sell.

Google's AI says "This is a vintage 1982 Datsun Sunny (B310 series) sedan in red" I looked for that description and there are some similar looking hits

The MP is Richard Tice. Quoting an inaccurate value for the car tax, and using a phrase like "final trimester" for an "elderly constituent" made me suspect it was AI generated, but I tried a few detectors and they thought it was from a human. A human who thinks its ACCEPTABLE to drop into...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

The jobs change. I don't trust my car to change lanes. I don't mind a few bleeps if I get close to the lane boundary. Adaptive cruise control does a good job of keeping a safe distance from the car in front. I then need to plan to change lanes before, the speed drops for a car in front, and...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

Fleet News has a car running costs calculator where you can select a car make and model and get predicted running costs for various ages and mileages of a new car. It gives the running costs and depreciation in pence per mile, but you can get the predicted depreciation by multiplying those...

    Budget hotels discussion

I was adding detail, rather than disagreeing with you. The speed limit on the roundabout is 30mph. There is a kerb and a reasonable verge, although its not paved. I once stayed at the Premier Inn when I had an early flight. I took the train to the airport, the bus to the Mid-Stay car park...

I just saw a 1902 Deckert 8hp Two-seater in Cambridge. This is a picture of the same car, from Wikimedia commons: Bonhams sold it for £66,400 in 2011

Should trains be fitted with special horns which can bypass noise cancelling technology?

If lived near a tram route and wore noise-cancelling ear buds to get to sleep, I would be pretty cross if I still got the horn warning. If there was going to be a bypass in the noise cancellation, there could also be a motion sensor, so its only applied if you are moving.

    Special Offers Discussion

As a recent* fan of the Super League, I used one of the vouchers this week. I bought it in the Northern Rail app. It was scanned on most of the trains and barriers, and had no problems. All the trains were on time. I started from Metrocentre at 9.34, going to Carlisle, Whitehaven, Corkickle...

    To Smart Watch or Not?

My absolute requirements for a watch are: It should tell the time and date, and update automatically for months which don't have 31 days, and for daylight savings time. I should be able to tell the time in a dark room. The battery should last at least a couple of weeks before it needs charging...
