    Leeds: The forgotten Big City?

I think I was a bit harsh further up the thread saying I wouldn't recommend foreign tourists to go to Leeds. It is a lovely place and the people are great. It is also a cracking night out and there is lots of stunning countryside just outside the city. On the down side it was a pain getting home...

    Season of Lent & religion

Well maybe we have to agree to an extent. Ha ha. The words Atheist and Agnostic certainly both cover me depending on which description of the word you read.

    Season of Lent & religion

Yeah there are lots of things we don't know yet. Maybe that makes me an Agnostic but that is seriously playing with words.

    Season of Lent & religion

It isn't an assertion. I just don't believe. I am not telling you there is no god.

    Season of Lent & religion

Alright, I will give you that maybe an agnostic, but there is a hell of a big crossover. If you do some research pretty much anyone who is not religious will say that an atheist is not someone who has a belief in something. It is generally people of faith that will describe someone who does not...

    Season of Lent & religion

On which side would you say the burden of proof is? Do you believe in the tooth fairy? If not then prove it doesn't exist. We can do this all day.

    Season of Lent & religion

Well assuming you don't believe in Australia I may possibly show you a few photos of when I spent 2 1/2 months there, perhaps some satellite images and if you still don't believe it exists then I would go on my merry way. I wouldn't think you had a belief system, I would think you were mad as a...

    Season of Lent & religion

Alright mate. So absolutely everything in life is a belief system. In not believing in God/Gods I am actively believing in something, even though we are talking about something I don't believe. For me it is something that is completely passive, takes me no effort and I really don't mind if you...

    Season of Lent & religion

Indeed. I do not have to actively believe in the absence of a god. The same way I do not have to actively believe there isn't a million pounds in my bank account. I don't need to prove it as there is absolutely no proof to the contrary. I have nothing against religion, I just don't believe. Part...

It isn't a belief system. It is an absence of faith, a lack of belief.

    Season of Lent & religion

Atheism isn't a belief system. I would also think asking why so many Christians need the structure of Christmas to visit family and give gifts would be interesting. Apologies, in all honesty I don't either. My bad.

Out of interest why do you need the structure of Lent to do something to help your fellow humans?

    Season of Lent & religion

I don't know mate. You seem to be just calling what you can't explain "God". That is different from having faith or believing in a religion or even looking for a scientific explanation. For me throwing god in there as an explanation is just saying "I don't know". For me saying "I don't know" is...

    Season of Lent & religion

The most hilarious thing is that people who are religious expect people who aren't to prove that someone who no one has ever met or has any proof of does not exist rather than expect that those who believe prove that this god exists.

    Season of Lent & religion

I find this whole subject very complicated (As everyone should do). I would say I am an atheist, I do not feel that the burden of proof is on me to prove the none existence of something I don't believe in and there is no evidence of. If a Christian wants to call me an Agnostic then I am happy...

    Liverpool 29/01/18

This is probably true. I would say at least once a week there is some kind of problem with the Birmingham to Liverpool service that service that results in them getting turned at Parkway if not earlier, and this is just in the narrow period of time I pass through Parkway between 5 & 6.
