Some interesting days out there. I smiled at 11003/004 turning up on the Victoria line - that set seems to haunt me whenever I venture capitalwards. Likewise at "Breakfast at the George", which reminded me of similar on my last trip to London - very nice, and unlike Spoons in Rochdale they...

A nice, suitably random sort of trip. Most impressed by how little you need on LU - far too much dedication there for me to hope to emulate!

Indeed. The Scottish bit came as a result of the Northern industrial action, unexpected (albeit very welcome) competence from my employer's payroll department, and a detestation of Fridays in La Rochdelle...:)

Can't comment on Virgin's wifi. However, I can say that TPE's is excellent, and worked efficiently all the way from Manchester to Glasgow and return. The trains are comfortable, the staff on board are pleasant and helpful. But they appear to concentrate on providing a decent basic service...
