TfL considers Taylor Swift-style 'dynamic pricing' for Tube journeys

Swift connections are Taylored to this daft idea? Anyway, who is Taylor Swift? Can't say I've heard of him.:s

    Bus fare cap beyond election

I think the fare cap will remain regardless of who governs, but may be raised to £2.50. It's either not known, or forgotten, by many that the pensioners' Winter Fuel Payment quickly decreased to £200 from £300 per household and has only increased again (as a one-off?) this last Autumn.

    Stagecoach-Disowning the past

If you read the article you'll find no mention of the opinions of former owners. New bosses regularly emphasise the new directions they're moving their business to, especially if there has been widespread public criticism of the previous regime, and often cite a new ethos.

Royal Mail letter post/Christmas card deliveries in December 2023.

Absolutely. It's no more an 'imposition' than expecting a police officer to uphold the law!

    Have you any irrational fears?

I don't think it's irrational, they both look and smell awful. Aisles full of the bloody things in supermarkets, which make me feel I was born in the wrong country!

TfL considers Taylor Swift-style 'dynamic pricing' for Tube journeys

Given that 'bumping' seems to be on the increase, according to a different thread, this daft idea will only lead to many more people engaging in this practice. As to which other capital cities have gone down this road, I'd imagine possibly Zimbabwe, Venezuela and Argentina on the basis that...

Has the BBC lost the plot?

The relationship between Hislop and Merton has changed greatly over the years. They obviously like each other now, but they certainly didn't do so in the first few series: indeed, Merton had a grumpy, unsmiling persona then. Merton also did his best when Boris Johnson became a fairly regular...

    Have you any irrational fears?

I'm entirely with you on snakes, but I think I know the reason why, other than the obvious. A young woman from Kenya who had a hand in my upbringing when very young myself returned home and later sent a distressing airmail letter that her mother had been killed by a snake in their garden. I...

Trivia: First and last journeys on a service

Not quite your criteria, but I travelled on the last Routemaster journey to Marble Arch on the last day of 'proper' operation of RMs, on London route 159, in December 2005. Nobody knew it would be the last bus that arrived there, as opposed to departed in the opposite direction, but so it proved...

    London Buses Discussion

I briefly owned and worked in a shop in Orpington when the Roundabout stand-alone operation started in 1986, the forerunner of the current R routes, and was surprised that the section of the 477 within Greater London wasn't incorporated into it. My understanding was that London Country South...

It also used to apply to non-TfL 402 in much the same area and with the same operator until it was withdrawn from Greater London. The 84 route was another with 'special status' dating back into the mists of time, and has been the subject of learned articles in specialist publications.

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

This is only my supposition, but I believe it probable that the higher salary level was one that had been formulated while Braverman was in post and ready to be announced when she was sacked. The decision to continue with it must have been made by someone very senior in government, but, with a...

Donald Trump and the aftermath of his presidency

Well, quite, and their personal beliefs could be said to follow whatever nonsense Trump is spewing out at any one time. In any case, would any of them countenance facing the fury and death threats that would follow should they rule against Trump? If the innocuous Mike Pence could attract such...

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

Can you imagine the furore if this was a Labour peer allegedly enriching herself and family in such a way while the Labour party was in government? GB News and the Mail would be in a state of permanent catatonic fury.

    The Waterloo & City Line

Reverting to the original question posed, I'd just like to point out that the traditional Saturday service operated iirc until shortly after 2 p.m. from the Bank end. The Bank of England staff mainly worked a one Saturday in four rota, both at Threadneedle Street and the Temple Bar branch...
