(TRIVIA) Busy stations which hardly anybody walks to

I am surprised no-one has mentioned Gatwick Airport to which no-one walks too. Everyone arrives by public transport, taxi or car. Does anyone walk to/from the station along the busy A23 road? I would also mention Ebbsfleet International Station which is mainly used by those arriving bu car or bus.

Should have Network Southeast when they electrified the Hastings line, also electrified other lines?

As far as I know only Cowden has free parking outside the station because there is no car park..! There is a proposal to build a car park on the disused former goods yard. At Hever I believe there is a private car park for which the owner collects the fees. A number of commuters who live in the...

Level crossings that would bring the greatest benefits if closed

Helpston level crossing must be difficult to cross as a motorist or pedestrian. It crosses 5 tracks (or is it 6?) including the busy East Coast Main Line.

Splitting up the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise post-nationalisation

I disagree as the whole idea of "nationalisation" is to run a unified train service. No train companies - just GBR. I am am retired BR staff when it was it was operated with regions or areas. At nationalisation in 1948 we had 4 different companies united into BR and slowly the terms and...

Disused Stations and Railways - Visited / Walked

Here is a variation in walking over disused railways which you have travelled over by rail then walked the trackbed after the track was removed or walked the trackbed before the track was reinstated. Here are ones which fit the category- Horsted Keynes to Ardingly (travelled over as a youngster...

Splitting up the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise post-nationalisation

I never mentioned or would not like to see driver changes in Central London. I like to see Brighton men working through to Bedford and Bedford men working through to Brighton. With nationalisation everyone will work for same company as a team.

Splitting up the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise post-nationalisation

Yes- they did in BR days- I was working on the Southern Region during the 1980s and 1990s 1775938952 It was Network SouthEast but still operating over BR regions. I worked for BR Southern Region in 1980s and 1990s.

As a former BR staff I would like the route to be split to the old regions - Southern, London Midland and Eastern.
