Premium car features you would pay extra NOT to have

Never thought of that. Some cars it only bongs for a few minutes other ones it can be a nightmare. Occasionally the dealership will turn off the alarm once I have informed them of the fact I’m exempt, others are hesitant to do so for liability reasons Yes I believe BMWs and other German cars...

Premium car features you would pay extra NOT to have

Seatbelt alarms- as someone with a medical exemption certificate they are a nuisance they can also be a problem when you have non human items such as a bag of shopping etc on one of the passenger seats. Obviously I understand their reasoning for being there but the reality is most people who...

Government spending £8 million on portraits of the King for schools, police stations and council offices

I don’t think I have ever seen a picture of the monarch in public buildings but maybe it’s different down South in England. Either way it’s isn’t exactly something that should be encouraged or have taxpayers money thrown at. If a establishment really wants a picture of the monarch they can buy...

Government spending £8 million on portraits of the King for schools, police stations and council offices

After reading various news articles about public buildings gets portraits of King Charles to display. Surely I can’t be to only person who thinks this has connotations of dictatorship. Pictures of the head of state in public buildings is a classic example of what you see in such countries and...

Worst town for seeing Nissan Jukes

You do wonder why the designers didn’t pick up on the horrendous design especially as the a well known for being ugly

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

Possibly because EVs don’t really have gears or transmissions and most people who buy a ICE car/van still prefer a manual transmission.

Poor choice of cars in the UK market

I mentioned this in another thread however I decided to start a new one to avoid the thread going off topic Why is the choice of cars on the UK market so poor in comparison to other countries especially Japanese cars like Nissan. In the UK they only have 5 currently on the market which is pale...

Worst town for seeing Nissan Jukes

Don’t the old Nissan Leaf EVs also have that hideous bug eye like design. As for Nissan jukes there is quite a lot In my area (South Ayrshire) usually blue ones. I have to admit I was rather shocked by the range Nissan has in the UK especially compared to other countries which is unfortunate...

    UK Emergency Alert Tests

On my phone you can turn off extreme and severe (obviously there is no presidential in the UK) and it’s a regular IPhone it hasn’t been jail broken or anything so presumably the UK will have two levels.

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

The auto hold feature doesn’t work on my car same with start/stop however strangely works fine when other people drive the car. Never managed to figure that one out.

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

I imagine most (if not all) full license holders have passed a driving test. Those who got there license before the test was compulsory were allowed to keep their license but it’s unlikely anyone in that situation will be still alive as the test became mandatory in 1935.

    UK Emergency Alert Tests

What I found interesting was the part when the government told people to ignore the alerts if driving and reminded of the laws regarding mobile phones when driving. I think given it’s used to alert of dangerous situations even the most safety conscious of drivers would find it difficult to...

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

Thanks, I was interested to find out about the older categories and how they compare today. Surprised at HGV4 automatic transmission given the vast majority of HGVs are manual transmission (especially years ago)

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

Can you remember what the old HGV classes we I only ever heard of class one (now CE) and two (now C)

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

Or the fact most full UK license holders probably wouldn’t pass a UK test if they sat one tomorrow (at least not without some lessons from a instructor first) I have also noticed a lot of older drivers seem to have a medium goods vehicle (C1) and minibus (D1) license even though they only sat a...

The effectiveness of the current UK driving test

The modern UK driving test is generally harder than it was years ago and has a lot more parts to it such as show me, tell me, independent driving, hazard participation etc However does this actually work have we noticed a reduction in accidents among new drivers or in comparison to other...

    restaurant/takeaway discussion

Had anyone ever noticed in Chinese restaurants that if a Chinese family arrives the food they appear to be served is often very different from what is on the menu. I’m not sure if it happens in other restaurants such as Indian, Italian etc

How much does the average retired person need to live off.

Quiet a few good responses. I think I was more imagining the drop in one’s income must be very difficult to adjust to. For example if you retire from a career with a high salary say down to £10k a year that must be very difficult to get used to even if you do no longer travel to work.

Radical ideas to revolutionise a broken NHS. Your thoughts?

Out of curiosity why do so many Americans oppose the idea of a UK or Canadian based healthcare system. Our healthcare system is often mocked and ridiculed by Americans.
