Donald Trump and the aftermath of his presidency

It would require more than the one Republican-appointed judge to rule against Trump though, followed of course by an explosion of bile and hate directed to those individuals and the court in general, followed by ???? (mind-boggling.)

    Euston Bank/Charing X Branch Announcements

That seems to me the most logical approach in those circumstances for those already on the train, providing just the right information without over-complicating it.

    The King has cancer.

It might be a day out in the car and the Loadsamoney approach for all the people with too much of it who'll mow be seeking unnecessary (in the vast majority of cases) total scan MRIs in a country which has a severe shortage of both radiologists and consultants dealing with cancer patients. As...

    DLR Thamesmead extension Consultation

I don't feel too much detailed thinking has gone into this at all. I suspect Greenwich Council getting into TfL's ear, and then Sadig Khan's,is the driver for this. They've never forgotten or forgiven the Jubilee Line bifurcation that never was at North Greenwich which would have terminated at...

Are you suggesting that not all of the trains need reach Avonmouth then?

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

OK, that had passed me by, but note the huge increase asked for when inflation was much lower! In 1997, with same boundaries as now, the Conservative gained less than 45% of the vote and had a majority of 3k or so over Labour, so it's not beyond the bounds of possibility. The LibDems have...

    The King has cancer.

I'm the same age as Charles, and know many other of what you describe as boomer pensioners. Two or three of them could certainly find that sort of money easily, a few more with a little difficulty and many more not without having to reassess their finances for a while, perhaps having to borrow...

    “Anti-social behaviour”

That all resonates with me too, although these days it'd be in a coffee shop. I'm too polite, though, when someone who's chatted once zeroes in on me every time they come in, even though it's sometimes fairly obvious I'm busy e.g. writing a letter or chatting/texting on the phone.

    DLR Thamesmead extension Consultation

If the Barking line incorporated a link from Thamesmead to Abbey Wood for connection with the Elizabeth Line and NR services, I'd think that better value than an extension from the delights of Beckton, which Linda Smith would doubtless remember for its slag heap! I'm am old SE Londoner, grew up...

    This is a scam, right?

Just the use, twice, of the word transportation would show me it's a scam. Actually, transportation would be a suitable punishment for any scammer caught, with hard gruel of course.

    “Anti-social behaviour”

I know, thought I'd written that! A boy at school had the same name (no relation) but was rather cruelly deliberately referred to as Bevan by a teacher, and the name stuck. I shan't tell you how my own name was bowdlerised. Teachers could behave as they wished with no comeback in those days...

Indeed, but radiotherapy is more likely in the first instance for someone (anyone) who is not so ill as to be an in-patient I'd have thought.

I don't think he was ever a 'rabbit.' There are worse batting at no. 9 imo.

    The King has cancer.

If ''regular treatment'' began today, it is very likely to be radiotherapy, which is used in the first instance on a range of cancers. At least he will be assured of the best treatment.

    DLR Thamesmead extension Consultation

If there's to be another railway tunnel under the Thames to Thamesmead it would be better imo from the Barking Riverside direction, and continuing on to Abbey Wood. How many Thamesmead residents, current or future, will need to get on a regular basis to Canary Wharf or environs?

    “Anti-social behaviour”

Growing up in the 1950s and 1960s I remember the term used to be applied, often by themselves, to people who didn't subscribe to extrovert behaviour in their lives. I would say this was a result of how the Second World War had wrought huge changes in U.K. society and led to the creation of the...

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

Thank you for your very considered answer. I can totally understand the notion that all knowledge is crucial and we cannot have too much of it, but there has to be a limit as to how much human endeavour and expenditure can be devoted to it overall, particularly as we are apparently entering a...
