Even the carriages are running away from European Sleeper, lol.

    European Sleeper experience

Last night's Brussels to Prague service has just arrived in Berlin about 7 hours late, where it will be cut short and turned around. That's another quite reliable service in the bag! I hope nobody is super negative about the journey.

It's a nice bit of haulage. And 483003/483004 on the Italian section!

Also a mess, it is a terrible idea to rely on NJ to get you somewhere on-time too. My last two rides were 30 minutes late, and 2.5hr late, but the former also departed 2hr early sooooo.

It isn't. Here's a look at recent days on the Praha-Brussels route. (images show the past few weeks of delays on European Sleeper, ranging from 4 mins to 815 mins, with a lot of figures in the hundreds) 1788980162 And how could I forget the Paris-Berlin train, which is also a mess. Of course...

And? Only enthusiasts will be interested in the intricate reasons for delays, most people will just see the number and just never rely on that train to do anything again. It's fine if you have nothing to do after you arrive, for example the rest of my day after this trip to Brussels was spent...

I had a rubbish experience and reported that to my viewers. If I pretended that it was okay, this would be lying. And what would be the point in pretending that my experience was okay? I'm not getting paid to say that, so why would I lie? 1788976722 I'm certainly not against collaborating with...

    European Sleeper experience

I wonder if anyone involved here would benefit from positive publicity and attention over night trains. And I also wonder if anyone involved here is at all close to the management of European Sleeper in any capacity, for example receiving exclusive press invites and meetings. Really makes you think!

Okay, I'll just ignore the frequent reports of 400-800 minute delays and trains getting cut short then (as if that is somehow some sort of achievement).

I wonder if that's because problems happen very often. :s

    Trivia: Worst designed train toilets

The short-set HSTs were poor, the sink was not very wide or deep, so water often sloshed out on curves.

Yes, a Mk58 would have been lovely. As would a 358/458, even one with a pointy nose.

Yes, you tell everyone this anecdote at least once a month, and already at least twice in this thread. Most people I've met think it's total nonsense, though.

Low-floor is clearly a destructive expectation for long-distance, especially high-speed. I mean look at what happened to Germany, they've ended up with Talgo junk and spartan double-deck carriages everywhere! Meanwhile - PKP InterCity, Snälltåget, Leo Express, Regiojet, BDŽ, The Golden Train...

I don't think I've found a single train with as depressing of an interior as the UK Class 800s! Such nasty cheap materials, and severely bright lighting. I wonder if anyone responsible for that design has experienced relaxation at any point in their life! I dunno man, if I had the choice of...

Well, the lack of end doors doesn't help, nor does the low-floor. Unfortunately similar such trains are cropping up on various long-distance routes in Europe, due to the lack of a proper long-distance design that isn't high-speed. In fact, the 397s and 800s are the only long-distance not...

Well any train could have been good, but may not be. The 800s could have been good, but aren't. Not exactly a consistent point, is it?

    Class 175s to GWR

At risk of going off-topic, what on earth? Would they have added cabs to the Mk3 trailers, or used DVTs, or what?

Smooth and quiet is a bit of a generous description of a train that turns any track into a rollercoaster. And while the seats aren't benches, you do very often end up literally sitting on a metal ridge. Dirtiness and tattiness can be fixed by simply cleaning the trains, it is not an attribute...
