    LNER Onboard Staff

Normally a Driver, TM and 4 or 5 other hosts. Depends on time of day and service, such as Dine trains having a chef. 10 car sets get equal staffing, so catering isn’t reduced in any set.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Was this the one that was advertising some sort of drink? 934 is still advertising Aperol Spritz I believe. I quite like seeing the white ones get advertising wraps, adds a bit of colour to the network.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Looks like there’s been some sort of incident on Shandwick Place, on a 25 into town from Sighthill and have turned to head via Morrison Link. EDIT: Power outage on the trams, one is stuck at the junction for Shandwick Place and Queensferry Street.

    Longest line of sight (UK)

Currently down on Girvan beach, it may take some zooming in but have spotted what I suspect to be the coast of Northern Ireland near Antrim. It’s too far away to be Kintyre and have verified by looking at it on a map. Photo shows a picture of the sea with the Irish coastline in the distance.

If you can call Fife tropical then sure :p Cheers - suspected it was a Fata Morgana but figured would get another opinion on it

    Longest line of sight (UK)

Didn’t know where else to post this so hoping someone here can help. Was on a drive along the coast road near Prestonpans on the outskirts of Edinburgh when I looked across at Fife and noticed this weird effect. Could anyone tell me what sort of effect this is and what causes it? Both images...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

With the Deli menu being lighter, it seems like a good option for the busier services or the quieter ones as it’s easier to offer. I think that’s why it’s gone to all the weekend trains.

Israel attacks Iran - What will be the wider implications?

It's all about clicks. Best thing to do if you come across something like that is just block it and move on.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

If you were given a Lemonade/Ginger Ale or Tonic these are generally served in the smaller cans. Pepsi and Pepsi Max are in full size.

    Bright Bus Airport Express service

Since Bright Bus is now stopping at Drum Brae city bound, can anyone confirm the fare for this. I understand the X38 has the £1 fare, but does that apply to the AIRX too?

    TPE 1st Food: Liverpool-Manchester

Snacks and drinks only on that one. They use the same menu as on the 185s for those services. Breakfast items usually a croissant or porridge. They used to have bacon or sausage rolls but this changed over when they introduced hot food between Newcastle and Liverpool.

OHL fire Langley Junction (ECML) 17-04-25

The Lumo is pretty much the same (as are most Edinburgh trains after about 1700), still a high proportion of people but it’s pretty busy nonetheless.

OHL fire Langley Junction (ECML) 17-04-25

1S30 left King’s cross on time at 18:30 and got stuck at Hatfield for 5 hours. From doing that service myself it’s also a Newcastle crew from King’s Cross to Newcastle, so probably found it best to run the service as far as they can (bear in mind they weren’t expecting another problem further...

OHL fire Langley Junction (ECML) 17-04-25

1S30 the 18:30 from King’s Cross to Edinburgh left on time, ended up 5 hours late and has now been sat at Doncaster for 40 minutes. LNER’s app is now citing “a fault on a train” as the reason. I really do feel for those passengers and crew as they’ve been on that train for well over 7 hours and...

    Flixbus Discussion

How good is the long term viability of the 090 service between Edinburgh and Glasgow? Anytime I see a 090 it has maybe 5 or 10 people maximum (and that’s at a push!) Would adding some more stops that aren’t served by Citylink’s 900 maybe increase patronage a bit? It’s a decently fast bus from...

    RailUK First Class Lounge Guide

I do kind of understand why TOCs limit the First Class lounge if they run it. Edinburgh is an example, if you allowed TransPennine, Scotrail, Avanti and CrossCountry 1st class passengers along with LNER’s, the lounge wouldn’t exactly be a pleasant place to wait as it would be rammed full. I...

Lumo - passenger experience criticised in Which? review

Oh 100%. Honestly the mess on the floor was that bad that one of the on-board ambassadors made them tidy up all their crumbs and wrappers and put them into the bin bag she was holding. But in all honestly, it shouldn't have been down to the ambassador to make sure the children cleaned up, the...

Lumo - passenger experience criticised in Which? review

Very smooth there. So as not to distract, the main reason why I opt for selecting seats is so that you aren't put on a table with three other strangers (as has happened on a Lumo service before), when there's groups sitting apart.

Lumo - passenger experience criticised in Which? review

That is true, it just might be more convenient to stop big groups being split apart (or if they had a seat selector!)
