    World Cup 2026

Had to check at one point I was tuned into the semi final and not playing a recording of a group stage game, France were virtually invisible throughout!

I don't have a problem with the check in time, it is clearly advertised when booking - although in the case of Premier Inn prior to Covid you always used to be able to check in from 2pm A flat fee for early check in would perhaps be more appealing if it was tiered - e.g. 12pm check in £15 1pm...

What’s the furthest a member of staff can be overcarried one stop?

Not quite as extreme but ever since LNER introduced their KX - Harrogate service if I had a pound for the amount of passengers boarding the service at Leeds expecting to be going to London only to end up at Bettys Tea Rooms instead I would have some decent pocket money :D

Things in living memory which seem very anachronistic now

2020 was the year a lot of companies perhaps changed their tune on remote access virtually overnight...I can't think why ;) We probably went from 200 VPN accounts to about 2000 within weeks! Some users prefer to just shove the apps on their personal phone, others refuse to do anything without...

Well the 5 night stay at Premier Inn I booked late last night I woke up this morning to find was £50 cheaper so that was certainly something! Pretty annoying really, I could have booked the Flex or Semi Flex at a considerable extra cost to Standard but then you run the risk of the price on the...

Grr at people staying on business midweek knocking up prices quite significantly (probably via expenses too compared to the fleas from my bank account!) Sun 26th Jul 26 £60.99 Mon 27th Jul 26 £54.99 Tue 28th Jul 26 £101.99 Wed 29th Jul 26 £74.99 Thu 30th Jul 26 £54.99

Is anyone here interested in GTA VI

I often go back to GTA3/Vice City/San Andreas as they still hold up to this day (you can also get some mods for the PC to make them a better experience on modern hardware!), GTAIV and GTAV are OK but the missions are a lot more scripted so you can't go off course otherwise you just instantly...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

There are too many incentives these days NOT to be a 'loyal' customer to a particular bank when you can just switch to another one for 5 minutes work and they'll give you £200 or so just for doing so, rinse and repeat until like me you've been pretty much been round the lot and aren't eligible...

    What made you happy today?

Someone got me a Lego set (a Nintendo Game Boy!) for my birthday last month and now I think I'm going to become addicted to it, already bought and built another set (Harry Potter Knight Bus) :D

Things in living memory which seem very anachronistic now

I've been to a few audience recordings in my time...off the top of my head (mainly gameshows!) Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Both with Chris Tarrant and Jeremy Clarkson - they don't usually play the background music you hear on the TV in the studio but do for Millionaire just to make the...

    World Cup 2026

It was certainly a step up from the snooze fest I endured watching South Africa vs Canada on Sunday! (Thankfully Canada decided to score 92 minutes in to avoid having to watch another 30 minutes!)

Will AI take your job? (Dispatches C4)

Might not be taking our jobs yet but it seems AI is having a horrible impact on anything involving RAM and SSD supply so the days of cheap consumer technology involving either of those seem to be over for a while! Just today Apple and Microsoft announced price rises, joining the club of Sony...

Bedford (Elstow) collision reporting by Daily Express: is this accurate or misleading?

The Daily Express and many other similar publications just use click bait headlines and articles to get traffic...and therefore advertising revenue...through their website (you will notice on Facebook for example they'll put up a post with the click bait headline then a link to follow through as...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

We visited a Pizza Hut the other weekend for a sit down meal which was actually not too bad, after some of their deals the cost was about on par with Wetherspoons (salad bar, pizza, side, dessert, unlimited refill soft drink) but it was completely dead for a Saturday late afternoon / early...
