We keep pointing out that the GEML timetable - based on timings for older & slower trains - is slack enough for most trains to be able to coast around and easily keep time. Of course being an intensively used two track railway - any serious incident - infrastructure related or train breakdown...
GEML and WAML crying out for a more efficient timetable.
Ideally the 755 consists on the GEML need to be minimum 11 coaches and definitely more than a pair of 755/4's. But it seems not even that is achieveable - in spite of there seemingly being quite a few units spare.
1A82 0911 Penzance Paddington 802111 - 9-car losing time heavily estinated to be running on just three or maybe two engines - 20 late departing Taunton
We don' t have any records in the RPS archives of any train achieving or beating the 14 mins yet, though they have been very close.
in May 2021 we finally recorded a run of 14 min 17 sec that finally beat a 1980's 14min 18 sec HST time. Later that month a fastest time of 14 min 10 seconds was...
Possibly. It's a shame we don't have a form of ATP to protect these sorts of situations. It would allow the train to brake within a set braking curve and improve efficiency at this location and others that are similar.
I've just taken a returm trip from LST to NRW and back on a 755 triple unit...
Just trying to make sense of the diagram Mon to Fri
There are nine dedicated class 745 Stansted diagrams - one of which starts at Norwich and one which ends there.
There is a diagram starting from Norwich 05:05 to Liverpool which forms the 07:23 to Stansted return and another two Stansted...
By far the biggest acceleration would come by reducing the 15 minute stratford to shenfield timing for stopping services to nearer 13 minutes. That would clear the Southend service off the mainline and into Shenfield P4 a little earlier Also the timings for stoppers north of Chelmsford to...
Thanfully i can confirm that the Stadlers don't oscillate and the tables dont shake at 120mph lol:E:E

A timetable recast to take into account the newer rolling stock better performance and actual SRT's should do the trick..been promised for some time..not looking likely for a while yet.
Any particular service? On my last Liverpool run there were several TSR's, so the driver had good reason to run at the full 125mph in many places...but there were also a few locations where slower than usual speeds recorded.
Yes, the Liverpool services are running to slower non tilt timings now - that's progress!!!
But where drivers have a clear run - the 390s are still running to the EPS profile and can run early resulting in longer dwell times to ensure RT departure.
Voyager timings are only likely to get slower. Creating 125 MU speeds on straighter bits of track where 125 EPS previously existed won't change anythingas Voyagers would already have been doing 125 on those stretches. I suspect the revised MU profiles on the twisty bits won't come into force...
A triple 755 consist comprised of 2 X 755/4 and a single 755/3 isn't too bad,but the triple 755 made up of 2x 755/3 with a single 755/4 is tight. Worse still, the double 755/4 consist is woefully short of seats but still better than no train at all.
