FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Few things to clear up. Firstly, I don't know anything about trains but I believe this train was an older type where the first class section was in the middle of the coach with standard seating areas at either end. There were no doors you had to go through to enter first class. The main...

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Ahh ok, sorry I didn't realise, it seemed to suggest just a fine.

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Interesting that on their website it seems to suggest that travelling without any ticket will only get you a penalty fare, not a possible court appearance. Surely this is a greater offence than sitting in first with a standard ticket??

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Then they shouldn't have given me an option should they? If you were pulled for speeding and the cop gave you the option of paying a fine or going to court and you opted for a fine, you'd be ****ed off if a week later you get a letter through the door telling you to go to court.

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Maybe they can, but I was never told that they could prosecute straight away.

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

I was given asolutely nothing by the inspector. I gave him my driving licence, he took down my details, I signed the form and I was told I had three weeks to pay the penalty fare.

What's the difference between a penalty fare and a penalty fine then, if any?

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm not denying I was at fault. What I do think is wrong though is the fact I was given the option, I said I wouldpay the fine and then a few days letter they tell me they want to take me to court. If they had said I was going to court all along I wouldn't have a problem.

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

The last thing I want is a criminal record that will stop me getting a job in the future over something so petty.

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

So why did they tell me I had an option? Anyone know what the potential outcome of this will be? Fine? Criminal record?

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Because I was told I had THREE WEEKS to pay the penalty fare.

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

Mate, I know I was stupid for sitting there. It was late, I was tired and I took the first seat I came too. I don't think I'm better than anyone, I take the train fairly often unfortunately and nearly always stand. This was a stupid little mistake. --- old post above --- --- new post below...

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

I know I was in the wrong, I'm not denying that. However, I was given an option of taking the matter to court or paying the penalty fare. I didn't realise you pay the fine on the spot as the inspector never told me this. I assumed I would recieve a letter in the post and then have the option...

FCC Notice of intention to prosecute

The other week I took a First Capital Connect train from Kings Cross to Peterborough, the 00:36 service. I had a standard class ticket and as I boarded the train I grabbed the first seat that came to view, a first class seat. I knew it was first class and I know I was in the wrong but often...

ungreat, I don't know if I can receive pm's unless I have at least five posts under my belt. Flyboy, have you given up on flying then? What was the story with you? It's always sad the hear about stories like yours. I'm sure you spent many years and many thousands getting to ATPL level. I...
