I wasn't trying to pay again though. Just trying to log into it to see if it's been marked as paid on their little system. Would be nice if they bothered a) uploading the ticket straightaway so it can be seen and b) had a thing to show it's been paid.

I have just had a look on www.penaltyservices.co.uk - it requires you to enter where the ticket was given (at which station) however this was on train between Hartlebury and Droitwich Spa... any idea how to get past this?

Sorry wasn't clear - queue of cars on main road to get into station (but travelling fast in opposite direction). No queue in station and cars driving round assorted bollards in conflict with pedestrians trying to get to trains.

I suppose so. I would have hoped that once a qualified person (who is actually paid to check the validity) says it's OK then this could lessen my culpability. I can understand the Liverpool ticket barrier as it is a bit of a rush, but Ormskirk is hardly a busy station and they have time to check...

Thanks for the reply. It still seems I was punished though as I paid 1 2/3 ticket price effectively. I thought nowadays you could show that you did have a railcard but forgot it and you could get the full price ticket refunded? Or am I dreaming?

I did try GWR as well but it kept just juddering and would not show the times/fares... grrr. On reflection I think BIT is a bit of a trek for a day... from what I hear it's just full of overpriced things (not like my type of outlet store in Florida!). Think a day in Oxford is more like it :)
