When the D stocks were introduced to the District line they had direction of travel maps in the cars which meant that on one side Upminster was on the left - they looked extremely weird. Don't think they lasted that long.

Waterloo for me - was the terminus we'd use when going into town. So big and exciting with lots going on, different parts to the station and endless underground passageways. And then later was the location of my first railway job, in an office overlooking the Waterloo & City line sidings.

Capital Transport who publish Laurie Akehurst's book have another called Green No More which is basically the London Country story from 1970 onwards. Lots of detail on route changes in the period.

As with so much it seems to be down to individuals - was at Doncaster once with severe delays - my train was still way up the track and I had a connection at St Pancras so I asked the guard of the first train that arrived and he was fine with me jumping on.

Noticed this afternoon at Motspur Park that the announcement said "this train has 10 coaches - because of short platforms, passengers for Raynes Park, Wimbledon and Clapham Junction should join the front 8 carriages only." That's not right, is it?

Have waited for 4 quite often at either Motspur Park station or the one further up the line at West Barnes Lane.

Coming up from Folkestone so I'll just get Thameslink to Wimbledon from St Pancras then get the 131 and walk from West Barnes Crossing. Lift back on Sunday, luckily.

All I get for VXH to MOT at 11am on Saturday is: There are no outbound journeys available on the day you selected, we have returned the next available journey (00.19 from Vauxhall on Sunday morning - straight through apparently so that'd be a bonus...)

I'm trying to get times from Vauxhall to Motspur Park - National Rail Enquiries is not giving me nothing whatsoever for all day.

Folkestone to St Pancras doesn't pass the bank manager test but it's a lovely easy journey that still gives you a seat every day (although getting fuller).

Folkestone Central canopy leaks like a sieve, too.

Have had a response back from Southeastern - they suggest registering as a new customer with a new email address (what are they on?) or requesting to delete my existing account (will take 48 hours) then starting again. Not sure if this means I also have to wait for a new Key but I'll see what...

Southeastern's Twitter feed is saying that out-boundary annuals are fine to be put on the Key but as mentioned I can't work out how to do that online. Will go to the station and see if they can actually do it. Really, really shouldn't be this difficult. --- old post above --- --- new post below...

Got my Southeastern Key today but mention of Travelcards seems to have disappeared. Is there a problem with loading them on? If I do get it loaded on will gates recognise my ticket more widely - eg at the moment Canterbury West gates don't recognise my paper Walmer to Z1-6 as being valid...

Hi Have been persuading a couple of colleagues that they should take advantage of the work interest-free season ticket loan - both of them only need zones 1-2 travelcards and have Oysters. However, I've hit a gap in my knowledge - I can see from the TfL website that they no longer accept...
