There are no plans to completely stop Gloucesters London train, it provides the same amount of people or even more comparing with Cheltenham. The only reason the Cheltenham trains would miss Gloucester is if the plan to run a separate service to both Cheltenham and Gloucester occurs.
7 and 9 car 802s please.
Bi-Mode
Good for Dawlish Sea Wall
Good for Cornwall Hills
Great Capacity
SDO fitted, Train Managment system etc.
New technology
CrossCountry could ask for a buffet fitted, just like Hitatchi did with the 801s for East Coast.
Pratical trains for the requirements, and...
Yes, but the capacity at Cheltenham means that Network Rail are looking for a solution. Take a read of the Western Study for the “up to 2043 plans” which include extending services to Worcester for the purpose of additional Tewkesbury calls, connections and enabling Swindon to get to Worcester...
I have only ever agreed with the RMT once, about DOO operation not being safe. But in a way they abuse there powers, they criticise everything that a company has decided, over exaggerate consequences and do not give two s**** about the traveling public.
Monday, 20th August
1C04 0730 London Paddington - Penzance (via Bristol TM)
1A83 1400 Penzance to London Paddington
Also staff and RTT confirms:
1A72 0553 Plymouth - London Paddington
I understand the 0553 is a ten car, not sure about the other two.
Every day this week they have been out...
Sit on a brand new nine car then sit on a 6/7 month old five car, there is a difference in softness. (The 800s)
Comparing a Voyager to a 800 doesn’t particularly please many as well.
I have been spending my time off reading about the Gloucester area and this is what I have found out.
Network Rail Western Study:
- Gloucester Resignalling planned for 2021.
- Once complete 1tph London - Gloucester and 1tph London - Cheltenham ready to start between then and 2043
- Possibility...
5 car Cheltenhams turned into 9 cars again. Originally they were going to go on the Cardiff/Swansea rotations and run the five cars here however some muppet decided not.
It wasn’t an issue with the nine cars, it’s an issue with the amount of 5 cars in passenger use.
The average man take up two seats and yet DfT can’t see that the trains are a significant downgrade to the refurb 158s, and I would go as far as saying the refurb 150s? I don’t get it. It still provides an extra 2 coaches on Cardiff-Ports, 1 coach on other services.
Just thought I’d post this as it has some interesting proposals: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/media/19463/study-report-may-2015-_-final-version.pdf
