Just noticed that for the December timetable, those EMR paths via Marple have a Q path variant via Stockport, which doesn't appear to be the case for the current timetable, so maybe there is more to it.
How did it end up that EMR couldn't run a service during this block? They have knowledge via Romiley and they seemed to have additional driver learning paths?
Only noticeable difference for that area appears to be 2W69 EWD 22:27 from Oxford Rd to Wigan Wallgate is instead diverted to Wigan North Western from December.
I can't see TPE using them as they'd have to sit in the platform for 10 mins to dispose the train - much easier to just do that as per the current timetable at Victoria and into the Reverse Sdgs there.
There is an STP 6J84 on Thursday evening from Horton-in-Ribblesdale Quarry, which then appears to have a loco move on Friday morning, forming 6F84 back to Horton Quarry.

It would appear from the latest version of the NW&C Planning Rules (TPR 2026 V4) there is an entry on the planning geography for 'Helsby Signal 12/13' described in the commentary letter as 'new timing point added to remove untimetabled shunt moves at Helsby', so seemingly will be a planned shunt...
For confirmation, I believe the points got fixed last weekend. Not sure anything has been running on EWR but some WMT ECS moves are back using the points.
I was under the impression P1 was already permissive, I suspect Northern / platform staff wouldn't stop in the correct position to allow another service to arrive though.
4S43 itself is delayed regularly due to following TPE 1S46 at Floriston. The length of 4S43 means once it's left Carlisle it can only be looped at Carstairs so the signallers have to be careful when they depart it. The additional Avanti 9S47 means the gap between 1S45 and 1S46, where 4S43 could...
Hams Hall to Mossend must 100% be one of the services. The current timetable already has electric 'Y paths' with 4S57, planned as 4S94 which depart at the same time. The Monday to Friday ends up about 1.5 hrs quicker (although weirdly the timings change back to diesel from Beattock Summit, which...
The signalling overlap is 1 issue, but the other is the length of platform 3 in the up direction is 137m so if reversing then the driver cannot quite see the departure signal on the other end to go back towards Deansgate.
Is there even timetabling capacity at Liverpool? With the additional Liverpool services being drip fed in, I doubt there is much platform capacity leftover for anything else.
Sounds fair enough. the only other thought was whether it was just a legacy from Dore being single track and there was something else higher priority to get into Sheffield and what's left is the only path without getting late back to Manchester as the arrival is on par with the standard pattern.
What's the thinking with this Class 2 Northern train that is non-stop from Sheffield to Piccadilly on Sundays (2s77 21:35)? Seems an odd service.
