It IS slightly confusing. If you catch a 320 or 352 from St Helens to Wigan, a Merseytravel ticket is valid throughout but not on a 612.
Surely one of the benefits of franchising was to remove such anomalies?
I'd been intrigued to understand how many of the passengers are making any sort of onward connection. I doubt it's significant, and that the benefits of this outweigh the negatives.
I wasn't talking about the 21 but the 412 as per your quote
Put bluntly... How many passengers each day are going from the 412 to York Station? The answer is very few. The operator and the councils have got a judgement to take and the "least worst" option is to introduce this loop. The 412...
That's an interesting take on things.
You're not bothered that it was the same people who will be responsible for franchising that have put forward moneypits like the T2 or the T12?
And if you think that it's expensive having deckers on certain routes, the T12 is over £200k for running a...
They could have consulted but what would that have done. Most passengers aren't adversely affected (and arguably benefit) so the only ones likely to say anything would be the few that are.
There were some 58/59 plates and notably, some of the older Citaros actually went to work for Arriva Midlands for a while. Whilst the majority of Citaros were 12 plates, it was also interesting that some were withdrawn outright for scrap, some went as trainers, and some were sent to TW for...
I don't believe it is. There's new development in the area but that's a large new warehouse next door and the Arriva depot is now used for storing cars and trucks IIRC.
Quite - it's a major shake-up and it'll take a few days or weeks for things to settle down. Some drivers may have elected to...
All valid points but most independents see the fuel costs and the potential spare part costs and would be more inclined to have an e200 than a Citaro. Not saying that's the right choice but it's the one most take.
Except it isn't being omitted so it's not reducing connectivity or integration. It might mean a longer journey for the very few passengers who want the station but for the majority of passengers, it is a benefit because the service is more reliable.
Oxford has been good bus territory for many years, helped by a very pro-active local authority over decades; remember that they had extensive park and ride facilities from the late 1970s and instituted policies that restricted car use and promoted bus priority. Add in a strong local economy...
They are definitively linked but not in the way that you think. The health of the high street is intrinsically linked to demand - for the services that they provide whether retail or hospitality. Remember that the vast majority of people who go into town centres aren't travelling by bus in any...
Perhaps that "blandness" can be viewed as versatility? That and some places (like Southport and more well heeled places, or places like St Helens or Newton le Willows) don't like being reminded of being part of Merseyside ;)
There were a mix of 58, 59 and 12 plates. Remember that some were withdrawn when Wycombe closed and sold for scrap so it may be that only the best ones were retained and the worst ones (like you experienced) went to the scrappys.
Owned by the council so sold by them. Buying some 11 year old Citaros (which are expensive to run and maintain) isn't that attractive to most operators so suggest that will be reflected in what they get for them.
Of course you'd say that... However, what makes good bus territory isn't boundaries or TfL or whatever your usual protestations involve, and what you are saying simply doesn't stack up.
Buses invariably are a product of "derived demand" - in only a few instances (like the open toppers and...
I'd be inclined to believe @Leyland Bus given he works there.
There's a public road and whilst the site is adjacent, there is a height differential.
Whilst the odd bus may visit, I'd suggest that as long as there are separate maintenance and office facilities, it is almost impossible to...
I think @Dwarfer1979 has made a lot of very accurate points. I've made the point before but those of us on these forums are atypical so we're likely to default to public transport. Most people don't, and don't travel for fun. There has to be a defined reason to travel.
The demographics...
