I've just tried TPE app on my phone. Shows either a £9.60 anytime day return or off peak anytime day return for £7. Designated as multiple operators change at Tamworth.
Waiting for a Crewe-bound train at Wigan North Western just now, I noticed that the automated platform announcement for another Avanti (northbound) train referring to Coach G as "1st class unreserved seating" - unless I'm mistaken this is no longer accurate is it?
Many thanks for the replies... I didn't know that TPE were going to move the Scottish services back to the Bolton route - I guess it was too good to be true and looking at how many commuters have been using the Wigan NW - Manchester route in the morning that's going to create a few miserable...
Not the end of the world but this journey is possible frequently throughout the day using Transpennine Express changing at Mcr Piccadilly and therefore 1st class is available the whole journey. Searching for tickets (I usually use Virgin WC website) there is no 1st class fare available - means I...
Lord preserve us... some of us have to TRAVEL on these trains.. for work... it is not a hobby but a necessity... It's obvious from a lot of 'insider' posts on this forum that the travelling public are at the bottom of the heap and it doesn't matter a jot what we as customers think and feel about...
The problem as typified on FGW commuter services out of Paddington is that on-train ticket checking decreases, First Class gets totally abused and there is no point buying a higher value ticket so this revenue gets lost.
Of course an MD should respond to customer feedback... customers are the ONLY reason he/she makes any revenue! Maybe you think the TOCs should just play train sets and run around all day empty... the trains wouldn't get dirty and there would be no inconvenient customers around to spoil the...
I mentioned early in this thread, once in total frustration, I wrote to Ian Bevan... result... totally ignored!! The impression I get... he doesn't give a s**t about his customers and from what we read above about the staff either. Short sighted, poor Leadership and as has been pointed out...
I raised the first comment about staff and stick by what I said.... In general Northern on-train and ticketing staff are OK people - polite, helpful where they can be.. so thank-you :)
The only staff I have a general beef with are gateline staff (MCV perhaps being the worst). I've been told...
There's a lot about Northern that sets it apart from all of the others...
Whilst there are a few units relatively pleasant to travel on most of them are in a disgusting state, shabby, often filthy and cold!
Customer service is a joke - you call them and they are immediately defensive and more...
I cannot understand human behaviour sometimes. Running to get on a tube train for example as the doors close when there is another train in 1 minute away is absolutely bonkers and I think typifies the attitude in parts of this thread; the same goes for the 'heroes' who are macho and hold doors...
I have to disagree... at Euston the 2 minute rule is clearly signed on the electronic data boards where all of the other train information is to be found. There is also a PA announcement 5 minutes before departure reminding folk that the train is ready to leave. If the train is ready, doors...
Yes - on the NR Website tickets are being accepted on Northern Rail, TPE and Virgin in and out of Manchester.
The line is being reported as "closed until further notice" so I'm concerned about travelling (to work) tomorrow - I'm on the 0545 Wigan-Euston and NR Enqs put me through to a bloke...
Hello, Forgive me if this has been asked before.... I'm new round here.... Can anyone comment on why a 1st Anytime Day Single from London Victoria to East Grinstead is £16.30 whilst the same ticket from East Grinstead to Victoria is only £15.90? Many thanks, Mike
