I noticed a few days ago at Southampton Central, the Southern service to London shows on the main concourse departure board as terminating at "Horsham", and then below that "London Victoria service"

Not directly related but today due to engineering works, there are direct trains between London (Waterloo) and Yeovil Pen Mill which I understand is quite a rare event.

According to an email on one of the Yahoo gen groups, it left Exeter with the HSTs still attached, so I assume they continued all the way to Paddington.

The Saturday 460 apparently exists for driver knowledge reasons. Any weekday 460s are due to a lack of available working 442s. However on Friday Southern managed to supply a full set of 442s with no 460s present!

'Southern' would be an appropriate name for the new franchise, because the trains would be serving Southern England.

It is possible to sleep at Gatwick Airport while waiting for an early morning train/flight, I have done it a few times.

The 442s seem suitable for the Brighton Express service (London Victoria, Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Brighton); but 377s appear to be on these journeys much of the time, mainly 377/3 in 9 car formation, surely the 3 cars are needed in the Metro area to bring trains up to 10 car. IMO the...
