Evening, I'm based at Faversham. It took me around 4 weeks from finishing classroom training to passing out, but generally will take as long as you need and is depot dependent due to routes etc too... So for example, at Faversham, we sign 9 routes. I believe Ramsgate (for example) sign 14/15...

It took me around 2 years from application to joining. Assessment centre was October 2017, interview was October 2018, medical May 2019 and started on 1st July 2019.

They're similar to the online ones. There's a simple 'maths' based one where you deal with timetables and ticket sales. Also did the group bourdon and a ticket checking/customer service role play

Application, online assessments, assessment centre (more assessments and a role play exercise), interview with depot manager(s) and then a medical. Classroom training is Monday to Friday 09:00-15:00/16:00 for around 7/8 weeks (although currently some is being done via Teams), then to depot where...

So do all of these points make it easier or harder becoming a driver with SE? I assume it's just as competitive as any other TOC?

I'm curious, what makes SE a less desirable TOC for drivers? To be clear, I'm not a driver, but it is a desire of mine to become a driver one day.

Hi, I certainly am enjoying the training but lots to take in! The medical consisted of urine sample for drugs/alcohol, height, weight, bmi, vision, hearing, blood pressure plus bending/stretching.

Hi, apologies for the delay. No setbacks, just a slow process if I'm honest. Some can do it in months, others years. It depends on depot etc... After my interview it was the medical.

Hi. I just spent time listening to what was being asked and then went into detail with answers. I got through at the first time of trying each stage so just persevere and I'm sure you'll get there. Practice the tests as much as possible too.

Evening all, Couple of questions. I see lots of conductors with rucksacks, can anyone recommend a good one? Also in terms of footwear, is safety footwear expected? If so, shoes or boots and again any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Thought I'd give you all an update... I've had a formal offer of employment with training scheduled to begin on 1st July. The last few days I've spent completing reference forms, disclosure checks, uniform requests and submitting pictures for ID. It's suddenly all seeming real now. Daunting but...

Well this is promising, thank you for your response. It's so daunting, having done the same thing for over 10 years, but I know I can't do retail for another 30+ years. I am looking forward to taking the leap though.

Thank you for your reply. They mentioned the training would last from 1st July until the middle of August. I feel fortunate to get through at the first time of trying. I've been in the same budiness for 10 years so slightly apprehensive. It's with Southeastern in Faversham.

Hello, apologies if this has been asked before. I'm nearing the end of an almost 2 year recruitment process and recently passed my medical to become a trainee conductor. I have a few questions; has anyone on here made the transition from retail? How did you find it? And what exactly can I expect...
