There's also at least one from the original Burnley batch acquired for preservation after it was withdrawn by it's subsequent operator. I believe it's 1063, after seeing service with Reliance.
As of about 12 months ago when I last made an effort to have a look the building was still standing but look unused, there's no evidence of anyone having taken it over or company operating out of it.
Yes, I was going to mention Slaidburn as an example.
There were a lot of anomalies with various services thanks to LCC funding cutbacks around 2016. Worsthorne in Burnley went for a period of time with a service that only ran in the evenings and on Sundays.
It is befitting of the services other small towns across the Ribble Valley receive. I don't think there's any need for anything more.
Brilliant pictures! I can't quite place the top one, but I'm guessing a lot has changed in 40+ years.
I lived in Whalley for a couple of years in the early...
Yes, you're right. The Vision service doesn't run via Read. I could be wrong, but I'm sure it now runs up Slade Lane in Padiham, across the Bypass to Whins Lane before turning up Trapp Lane and onto Sabden.
It used to be served as part of the Burnley & Pendle Mainline network as route 27. It alternated with service 26, which ran direct to Whalley and Clitheroe. As @Leedsbusman states, the Sabden service was withdrawn when the Mainline was rebranded to the 'M' services. If I remember correctly...
Was the Nelson - Higherford section always a subsidised service, going back to the pre-Ribble County days? I know there was some S21 funding for evening journeys thanks to the housing developments - though the funding for which ran out before the houses were even built.
I can't see the 2 lasting very long once Transdev give up the Nelson - Higherford section. It's the only direct link to a sizeable village, despite it being relatively close to Nelson. The 2 that remains basically follows the same route as a number of existing services that already link Burnley...
Stepping away from the £3 fare cap will likely have a negative effect, and again it'll be members of the public that will blame Transdev. They'll just see it as Transdev increasing fares when everyone else charges £3.
It's not just Coastliner, but across the whole network it must be...
It threw me when the Mainline Versas were delivered. They arrived at the same time I had a load of Euro 6 vans delivered and assumed the Versas would be the same. I'm paraphrasing but one of the press releases at the time said that the Euro 5 Cummins engines could be 'upgraded to Euro 6...
Interestingly the Blackburn to Burnley General journey can be done on one bus for £3 now that Moving People run the direct HS1 service.
What constitutes as a 'longer route' could be a bit ambiguous
I imagine it'll primarily be used by people using two buses to connect to their final destination and returning the same way where a return ticket won't work, rather than four individual single fares. The £3 maximum fare also seems to also be a £3 minimum fare for most journeys now so it could...
Thanks, doesn't sound a lot but on a busy bus it'll make a difference.
I'm guessing the 662 is the type of service that either runs relatively quiet or jam packed?
For me this example garnered my interest because I regularly use the company that operated them. I have zero knowledge of any Frist , Arriva, Stagecoach subsidiaries or whoever else operates them, I can only offer my opinion on what I've experienced myself.
Regardless of who hyped them my...
