Explained like that, yes it does make some sense. Though the significant difference to post-Oyster PAYG (i.e. 2010 onwards) NR fares within Greater London (i.e. zones 1-6) is that with the latter there are no off-peak return fares, just singles or Anytime returns.
To be precise, the defendent is Tram Operations Limited (TOL) - a subsidiary of First Group - which has the contract with TfL to operate the service until 2030.
The "Tramlink" name isn't really in 'official' use these days, which I think is a bit of a shame - TfL use the brand "London Trams"...
There are standalone (non-pink) Oyster/contactless readers at Clapham Junction on platform 17 - three of them, two near the steps up to the overbridge and one at the other end near the steps down to the subway.
I can't comment on how these might work with SWR's Tap2Go and GTR's keyGo, though...
Whilst TfL have a co-ordinating role for e-scooter rental scheme trials across Greater London, it's down to the relevant London Borough ('LB') to decide whether they wish to participate. Neither LB Croydon - where this incident took place - nor the adjacent LB Sutton to the west are participants...
That's an incredibly UK-centric view. As others have stated, it's best not to assume the banking market in other countries is the same (coz it's not!).
Banks within the Eurozone by default cater for pan-Eurozone payment card usage without extra fees, so there'll be less of a demand for the...
Foreign transaction fees are a potential issue for people using non-UK (non-sterling) cards - all depends on their card issuer and whether they levy a ForEx fee.
However it's worth noting that all TfL contactless usage for one day is rolled together and charged as one transaction (normally on...
Oh, absolutely.
Those who actually paid attention to how he handled being Mayor (e.g. attention to detail - or rather, the abject lack of it!) could quite easily see his unsuitability for the role as PM. Hey ho, lesson learnt... (...or probably not!).
That's not the case, and is a rewriting of history - what you are remembering is the 'party trains' that happened in the run up to the ban as a reaction to it.
The then newly elected Mayor Boris Johnson's justification for banning alcohol consumption on TfL services (even though it was sorta...
It's very similar and must surely have been inspired by the Worldline 'Mixing Deck', but it's worth noting it is a different product.
I do like it (and bravo to its creators), but it's not quite the same - it takes up significantly more screen real estate than the Mixing Deck, nor can you...
Also, thinking of psychoactive substances which can lead to excitable behaviour, high time to ban tea and coffee.
Plus any carbonated drinks so as to inhibit belching.
Indeed no longer as of today, Thursday 26 March - see this other thread:
SWR updating booking engine and app on 26 March 2026
SWR now uses the SilverRail booking engine, as seen on GWR.
RedSpottedHanky is the last holdout of the Mixing Deck, but I'd imagine likely not for much longer.
As expected, it's the end of the Mixing Deck on SWR - as the last TOC to use the Worldline booking engine.
Yep, looks to be the same booking engine as GWR. Makes sense that it was likely a joint procurement, given that I believe Worldline are exiting the market hence there was a need to...
Thanks Mike, yes you've reminded me that the Lioness line contra-flow charging is (and I think always has been, since Oyster PAYG acceptance began) a more comprehensive arrangement than just covering peak-time evening journeys into zone 1 / Euston.
The justification at the time of introduction (January 2011 for LU & DLR journeys, expanded to include NR from January 2015) was more that there was available capacity on the network for 'contra-flow' journeys into central London in the evening. However, by extension it does make an evening trip...
Received an email yesterday from SWR giving rather short notice that they will be updating their booking engine used in their app and website on 26 March.
The email linked to this FAQ page:
www.southwesternrailway.com/contact-and-help/website-and-app-faqs
I don't know what system they're...
There were all manner of ideas and proposals. However the Major government of 1992-97 did it all in a bit of a rush. There was no government green paper to promote debate as to how it should be done, instead they jumped straight to a rather thin white paper published in July 1992 which didn't do...
She might look back on this episode in years to come more favourably, having perhaps decided to pursue a career in a different, more salubrious sector.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
