Indeed it doesn't. Words like entrapment come to mind.
Yes, being 6'5" tall helps here too! My non white, shorter other half had a much tougher time during the 2020 silliness, but ironically sent aggressors packing with scathing politeness I could never achieve!!
A cynic like me might wonder if, having found a contactless passenger, the RPI delayed dealing with them until after Witham in order to secure the penalty's validity?
Been away for a couple of weeks. Depressing to see Staines services consisting of just one 701 out of six services in a hour this morning. And the yellow line shouting at Clapham Junction is at ridiculous levels. Blood pressure restored to pre-holiday levels.
I think I'll start an "everything...
Because it now has the potential to be entirely faked. So what used to be credible evidence is no longer guaranteed to be so.
The issue is nothing to do with other forms of evidence which haven't changed.
If video evidence is going to remain credible in a world of AI media manipulation then cameras are going to have to be replaced with ones supporting robust media authenticity marking such as C2PA.
I find it mysterious how the TfL Ts & Cs page has been updated twice since this thread started and documents that didn't appear to be available before are now published, dated 2nd week in July.
That's an additional reason that I consider train announcements at stations being overridden by inane housekeeping announcements as a breach of the Equality Act. Clapham Junction being a prime offender.
Fully understood, I just wanted to clarify to @Goldfish62 that the pain isn't shared!
On a positive note, although the older stock has crap/no aircon, the SWR aural bombardment of BTP/fare dodging warnings is slightly more spaced out!

Good point. I am curious as to why Readings...
What I mean is the 07:28 from Clapham Junction is never a 701, and neither of my regular return journeys are 701s either. So unless I miss a train, I'm stuck on the old crap week after week. Why can't we mix it up a bit? I know why, because it's easier for someone to copy/paste day after day...
Lol don't be silly, that would be an entirely sensible common sense approach. Sadly, it would involve RDG in getting their finger out and changing more than a sentence in some T's & C's.
Welcome to Great More Complicated than Ever Railways :-)
No forever, because there's a 50% increase in the number of people who are entitled to use the card but who will have forgotten to buy one / left it at home / had it eaten by the dog, etc.
What about Reading services? I haven't been on a 701 in ages and most 450s appear to have crap or non-existent aircon. Why can't they swap them around so the pain is shared equally amongst all passengers?
I do similar from SWR land with a 60+ Oyster without any issues - and they seem to be similar products.
I feel the consensus view of the forum's experts (of which I am not one!) is that if the underlying entitlement on the Veterans Oyster is a Travelcard then that's perfectly fine. Hopefully...
It's hard to think of another industry that could muster up such mind-blowing levels of incompetence. It'll be interesting to see how many people get fired for this; I would imagine precisely zero.
I hope all the people who have been wetting themselves with anticipation of our faux...
