We all accept it. Australia in summer gets hot. But it takes the critical rail temperature to hit 55c before anything starts slowing down. 42 ambient is when WOLO 70 happens.

We do slow down trains in Australia. V/Line will run hot weather timetables because of WOLO speed restrictions. Metro will reduce to 70km/h when it gets too hot.
There will be cancellations due to faulty trains.
You don't need wet weather to test low adhesion conditions.

Just attach a hose to the front to spray soap or water on the track.
The Comeng fleet in Melbourne is now very much on borrowed time. An extra 25 X'trapolis 2.0 trains were ordered in the past week and it's expected that will finish the last of them off.
There's 45.5 six car trains still in service for the time being. 23 EDI refurbished units and 22.5 Alstom...
Industrial action is kind of designed to be disruptive.
I'd love to see people who do complain about this sort of stuff start losing the rights the unions have fought for over the years. I'd reckon they would be in favour in about 5 minutes.
I think part of the problem is No information = staying silent. We are in an era where information can be relayed rather quickly. From digital train radios capable of group calling and sending PAs direct to trains, Apps for both staff and pax and whatnot.
I know here in Metro the social media...
It seems to be a problem with information flow from control centres to the front line on railways in general.
Down here there have been times I've been sitting a home and my mate driving a train has less of an idea of why his train is delayed than I do.
I do recall driving behind a Land Rover years ago with a sticker with words to the effect "The parts flying off this vehicle are of the finest British quality"
Do they do weekday overnight closures?
Down here the Werribee line has been closed nightly from 2030 until last train basically for a year to allow X'trapolis 2.0 testing. It wasn't until around a couple months ago they allowed them to run around with other trains for testing. I I believe the...
That is or was par for the course where V/Line terminated short for works.
Bairnsdale locos would always be a Vlocity when the track was closed beyond Traralgon.
They dont want to run them that way until the level crossings are upgraded.
Otherwise they get speed restricted.
The only real difference between the two is one allows a simultaneous cross.
Another extra ran today with 3YM4 and 4PM6 through Gheringhap. Presumably they are running extras from Sydney into Dynon. Then there's seasonal grain traffic.
It might not seem a lot but when youv'e got 30km between...
They're running extras. 2MP7, 1XM5 have gone through Gheringhap this week. Last week the 3YN2, 4GP5 and 4PS6 were diverted. The 7MX4 had loading from 7YN2.
From Tottenham Triangle to Adelaide its single track with passing loops. Tottenham to Seymour is the same.
The IP will be going via Victoria. 7th 9th and 11th March.
The XPT is a 5 car train.
The IP can be 30 cars long.
They have more than once set of carriages. They get inserted and removed as needs exist.
