Hi All
Recently met a disabled guy viewing trains from his car on one of the over bridges south of Crewe. He explained good views from a car are hard to come by, so that got me thinking, why not ask all you knowledgeable folk where they recommend doing just that "Viewing from a car"
Location...
As you can probably tell from my name Im a photographer, a few years back I tried some then and now photos but quickly realised its almost impossible as what were wide open well kept embankments are now generally overgrown with bramble and out of control trees, all of which catches rubbish which...
As an ex member of the emergency services I have had 1/2 a lifetime of verbal assaults directed towards me and my organisation by persons from all levels of society, rich and poor, old and young, of sound mind and mentally ill. It was my choice to work in an occupation that mixed with society...
I was on it today Liverpool to Manchester at 09.25 actually by pure chance as I was expecting a 185.
Looks absolutely stunning on the outside, inside I would call in "functional" but nice and bright. My only criticism was that its a pain to get to the power socket or USBs under the seat, I...
With the disruption caused by the Whaley Bridge incident is stone getting out if Derbyshire by rail at the moment ?
If not I appear to have given the operation the kiss of death on post 6
Many thanks for that, all makes sense.
Obviously accessing the passenger line would only be of use for trains going to Stockport / Manchester Piccadilly.
Reason for my question was I was thinking "what if" the Chinley link was U/S, all manner of issues, snow, landslip in cuttings, tunnel...
Many thanks for the info.
So if a train was to enter / exit via the passenger line at Buxton is it straight forward or does it involve a reversal from the new siding.?

Hi all.
Do all the stone trains exit the Derbyshire quarries via Chinley junctions ? including the ones using the extended runaround at Buxton. Reason I ask is that on google maps there appears to be a line that runs south from Tunstead and loops around back to Buxton.
Were these lines ever...
Hi
Sorry for delay in answering.
Yes got back to Manchester just over an hour late, which is pretty exceptional considering VT had to find a spare train to redeploy.
Staff were a little reluctant to say what had happened but I overheard a discussion about an axle sensor ? What was unusual...
23.00 hr departure left Euston late and then crawled into MK
Now offloaded and waiting for replacement
Anybody have any info on whats happening ?
Need to get home !
4 miles south of Piccadilly and you have Stockport which has recently become quite active with freight (if you time it right) GBRF biomass workings
look very impressive
Bring back the Victoria bankers !!!??????
I feel quite guilty, last year sold my house which backs onto the CLC line at Cheadle, told buyer we only had a few freight trains a day to rattle the windows, I had no idea of the impending avalanche of biomass and Runcorn waste trains. Ooops!
News that UK will close all coal power stations by 2025
Apart from the loss of coal traffic what about flyash traffic to supply the construction industry ?
How are we going to make breeze block and plasterboard ?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-33970594
Any thoughts on how this news will alter coal imports e.g. will coal still be imported into Scotland with a portion being dragged down the WCML to other power stations ?
