To be honest at this point in time I'd be grateful for any train, my morning commute 0730 Skipton to Leeds is cancelled 2/3 times per working week due to the shortage of units
If they end up ordering an extra 16 331s hopefully they'll be specified with a more appropriate seating layout, the 4 car 331 represents a significant seating reduction on a 4 car 333 due to the number of tables.
The 333 issues have led to them being enable to run the full Airedale timetable most days since mid-September. The 0730 Skipton to Leeds is cancelled more weekdays than not, and the one after it is now usually a 321 which ends up too full to get on.
Surely with all the new 331s sitting around...
Tonight was a farce of Northern's own making. 1718 Leeds to Skipton was dispatched by platform staff, guard closed doors and the train sat for around 5 minutes before it was realised that there was no driver on the train. The doors were re-opened and the guard advised that control have assured a...
Recently they must have had poor unit availability as there have been frequent morning peak train cancellations due to more trains needing repair than usual at the same time
The 0730 Skipton to Leeds has been cancelled 4 out of 5 weekdays this week, meaning the following service has been leaving people on the platforms from Bingley onwards.
I think it is broadly justified in the east side. I commute on the Airedale line into Leeds on a daily basis. Despite the big marketing campaign about the introduction of the 331s, there seem to be very few in service. Reliability has also taken a nose dive since the alleged 331 induction with...
Any update on the east side? Still seems to be only a couple out on Aire and Wharfe and regular peak cancellations due to 'more trains than usual needing repair at one time'
There has been at least 1 peak time cancellation every morning this week between Skipton and Leeds due to more trains needing repair at once than usual, here's hoping they get more 331s into service soon...
What's the latest on the roll out on the Aire and Wharfedale Triangle? Yet to experience a 331 on my commute and there seems to be more 321/2s around than ever (when they have not broken down and the train is cancelled..!)
According to Wiki 6x331 is 408 seats which is only 48 more that a 4 coach 333 (360 seats), due to the low density of the seating. There are definitely more than 48 standing on some of the rush hour Airedale services. Still can't understand why they've gone with an intercity style layout for a...
I'm concerned about the lack of seating on them for the Airedale Services. Very low density intercity style seating with big door areas for standing but nothing to hold onto so wasted space. Why weren't they specified with higher density seating and grab rails in the door areas?
When will the 331's be operating as 6 coaches? It must be one of the most heavily used commuter rail operations outside of London and is desperately in need of extra coaches
It might seem l
It might seem less crammed in as the 333 doesn't have a lot of standing space aside from the door areas. I thought the plan for Aire and Wharfe was to run 6 car using SDO?
