Initial training for a train driver

Nice blog -- i will look at that in more detail tonight, but looks good. Just what i am after. I found a much older one -- i think the guy was going through training in 2005 - i wanted something up to date -- this is just the ticket (no pun intended! :-) )

Initial training for a train driver

Interesting conflicting points of view. I see both sides. I was thinking i could get a jump on the training as i have several weeks to go, but i also see that if you pick up something wrongly - it can be really difficult to re-learn it correctly! I suppose thats the point of a structured...

Initial training for a train driver

Hi, There is a lot of really good info and advice about how to become a train driver. I would like to take it even further. I have finally gone through the process and have been successful and am awaiting a start date ( i have been told this will be within 8 weeks). Here's my question -...

    Scotrail Medical

good to know -- in the same position with medical looming! Rout101 -- your medical isn't this Monday is it ?? :) Its taken me 8 months to get this stage -- keep expecting something to go wrong...! From what i have read its pretty straight forward stuff. I was reading in another forum...

    Yes you can !

Nerazzurri - I wasn't meant to be cryptic !! Just do exactly what i said -- if you go to the barriers at the main stations and simply explain that you have an interview for the position of train driver, they will usually take you to the offices where you will find a few drivers, maybe a DI or...

    Yes you can !

ML - Know about First Group - where there operate, MD, awards etc. Know about Scotrail, about the franchise, how long operating, main routes, how many stations, awards won, services operated, how much of the rail they own, passenger numbers, reliability, punctuality, up and coming upgrades -...

    Yes you can !

I think it's hard to say what tests are easier and which are harder...... I am also of the "playstation" generation (Not XBOX !! :D ) and I thought at the time the test was difficult, although when I got feedback after the test the assessor said "well I guess you found that easy...!" I was...

    Drumgelloch to Shotts via Edinburgh

Hi, How that for quick moving -- Scotrail has taken the route off the website, so now when you request Drumgelloch to Shotts - the only route it shows is through Glasgow. Intesresting if you try Armadale to Shotts to takes you now through Waverly (not Haymarket) which means you are doubling...

    Drumgelloch to Shotts via Edinburgh

Hi to everyone - and many thanks to all who have contributed so far. This obviously has had everyone hitting the rule books! I suspect this will rage on until Scotrail actual do something about it. I suspect, however that there's not much they can do and it would involve actually changing the...

    Drumgelloch to Shotts via Edinburgh

Hi, Here's an interesting one (hopefully not covered already!) With the new Airdrie Bathgate line you can travel to Shotts now via Glasgow and Edinburgh. The ticket says "Any permitted route" and if you look on Scotrail's own web site and "thetrainline.com" both show this route as "permitted...
