On the subject of air photos, Gatwich Airport train station is a great place for photographing take off aircrafts as well as trains. Last time I was down there saw a very nose up Virgin 747take off, but the weather was cloudy so to slow with my camera for that one ;)

I expect so, in the past when I have done a journey to Manchester from Heald Green, and go via the Airport on a non stopper, the Ive not had a problem. I think its valid because the trains are straight through from the Airport.

In terms of electrification of certain routes, some stations would need to be altered. The bridge at Loughborough isn't high enough for cables to pass underneath, and that 'big dark bridge' at Nottingham is a little dodgy.

Yeah it looks to be that way with the Manchester and Liverpool services, since they make additional stops at Coventry and Watford so effectively one services being used for originally two south of Birmingham.
