Retford to Nottingham flow is just larger than Reford Newark. There appears to be 4 different routes between Retford and Nottingham: Worksop, Lincoln, Newark or Grantham. As Newark requires a walk I would have thought that this would not be the most popular option.

Yes that fills up the existing capacity I understand so a North to East curve will require extra track to and through MK.

If there is a curve at Bletchley then you probably will need extra lines (2?) and platforms at MK. The existing lines north of MK are likely to be sufficient.

There should be a North to East curve at Bletchley to prove a direct Cambridge MK link. This will provide additional freight routes as well as passenger benefits.
