Going south from Peterborough the xx:23 to Horsham is only over taken (by 4 mins) by the ex York (Retford) service xx:45 in the hours it runs otherwise is it quicker than the next LNER.
The ex Lincoln service is on the opposite half hour.
Retford to Nottingham flow is just larger than Reford Newark.
There appears to be 4 different routes between Retford and Nottingham: Worksop, Lincoln, Newark or Grantham.
As Newark requires a walk I would have thought that this would not be the most popular option.
If there is a curve at Bletchley then you probably will need extra lines (2?) and platforms at MK. The existing lines north of MK are likely to be sufficient.
There should be a North to East curve at Bletchley to prove a direct Cambridge MK link.
This will provide additional freight routes as well as passenger benefits.
