But it's only a problem when the trains are painted red with GX on the side. The union has zero issue driving the same trains, with the same number of doors, in the same circumstances, without a conductor provided the train are painted blue and have a Thameslink logo.
But of course the union...
I can see lots of ways in which a degree in Accounting and Finance would be relevant to Railway ops. Fundamentally, accounting is about logic, analysis, problem solving and planning. Therefore such a degree would help in train planning, it would help in figuring out a logical way to plan staff...
For what's it's worth it seems like that manager was probably in the wrong, but I would argue that so was your response.
Yes of course you were entitled to a water break and a rest break and the train would just have to wait. But (even if the manager swore at you) there is no excuse for...
Come on now. It's fair enough for you to to have a serious disagreement with the management and of course understandable, but I think your 'drop dead' comment is completely unacceptable. Managers are still people. Would you want someone wishing death on you or your family?
Language and rhetoric like the above is why the unions lose sympathy. Of what relevance is it that Keolis is french. In addition, was it no only yesterday that Simon Weller of ASLEF stated
The unions need to decide if they want nationalisation or not. RMT above say its needed but ASLEF seem...
I think Rick has a point here. There appears to be no such agreement (at least within the t&cs which limits DOO to 10 car trains. I can therefore understand GTRs logic:
- 12 car operates on majority of that line already (with the same units)
- ASLEF drive vets drive such trains therefore they...
I guess it's all perception as you say. As an outsider looking in, it seems odd to me that ASLEF can accept a train in one part of a franchise but then disagree with it elsewhere. It makes them look fickle. Yes I know ex-southern and ex-FCC have different terms, but to the general public it...
I'm due to travel Friday. I'm happy to risk it on old stock for a priv fare but I'm travelling with friends who normally take the tube. I'd feel bad if I convinced them to take HEX and then it was the old rolling stock.
Yes, rather annoying. I travelled from Perth to Edinburgh to pick up the service. The boards at Edinburgh said 'engineering works' but on the bus they said it was a crew shortage. I ended up losing over two hours of sleep which kind of devalues the point of the service.
I'm at n the sleeper at the moment from Euston to Perth. Think we may be delayed, we left an hour late due to a faulty compressor and the train just juddered to a halt so not sure what's going on. The staff are being lovely however! :)
