    FGW Groupsave 4

We are looking to book some tickets on FGW's site using Groupsave 4. The fares have come up correctly and it has bought up the services, but it is asking me to select a service. If we select a service does this restrict us only to that train? We are hoping to use an Off Peak Day Return...

New station names for Ashchurch / Birmingham Intl

I'm sure there must be demand for greater services, and a clockface timetable would really help - it does take time for people to realise the new services are there and then it takes a lot of persuading to get them on the train. Looking at the local population, the station just seems very...

New station names for Ashchurch / Birmingham Intl

Agreed. It's my Local station as well, and whilst the bus stops within about 300 meters of the platforms, if it were to stop where it used to - actually outside the station it would be a lot better. If you want to get people out of the cars and onto the trains, then you have to make things as...

    FGW Timetable book

I would be happy to get some and forward them to members next time I'm in Cheltenham. The only downside is that don't I know when I will - probably next Sunday at the earliest, but it may even be a couple of weeks I will do them at book price + postage at cost. I don't know how many they are...

Queries: walking distances and overnight accomodation.

For Gloucester you could try here: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187047-d1601274-Reviews-The_Mulberry_House-Gloucester_Gloucestershire_England.html Close enough to the station. I've never stayed there, but driven by plenty of times, nice little building and very favourable reviews...

Favourite stretch of line in UK?

Already mentioned on the first page, but I do like the Golden Valley (Swindon - Gloucester) line, it is especially picturesque through Chalford.

    What a load of nonsense.

I've never heard 'The next station stop' before. I'm not even convinced it makes sense, but after reading it a few times I came to the same conclusion as trainophile above. I can also see how it could be advising that the train may stop at signals before reaching the station though.

Looking for feedback on my new split ticket finding program

Someone mentioned Moneysavingexpert, they have had (for some time I will add) mention that they are building a tool to calculate split ticketing. (towards the bottom: moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-train-tickets) MSE has a very large user base (apparently 6 million subscribe to...

    Aschurch to Torquay in April

Hi All, We are hoping to go to Torquay from Ashchurch in April. Most likely dates being outgoing on 17th and return on 20th. We are flexible on times and even dates to an extent (could be 18th - 21st for example). There are 2 of us, both adults an neither hold a railcard. We are hoping...

Cheapest ticket between two UK stations?

Is that to the town centre? It costs me 1.10 single or 1.90 return from The Bus stop on Northway Lane to Tewkesbury town centre. How do you get such a cheap bus fare?

Ashchurch for Tewkesbury to Bham University

She did seem knowledgable on the phone. Didn't have to ask anyone or put anything into a computer. She advised that many people from Cheltenham Spa do the same thing (although usually to New Street). So, just to clarify. the PTE would be the 'Bromsgrove - All Zones' and the Season Ticket...

Ashchurch for Tewkesbury to Bham University

Hi, Thank you all fo your replies. I'm tempted to buy a season ticket for a week and try it. I do think the barriers at University could be a problem though, and I can imagine I could well be queried on a regular basis. But the potential savings could make it worthwhile. One other thing...

Ashchurch for Tewkesbury to Bham University

Thank you both for your replies. I am trying to get my head around it. I assume that the Bromgrove - Cam ticket would be valid because 1. as a season ticket holder I am allowed to hop on, hop off on along the route. 2. When I get on at Ashchurch, I COULD have come from Cheltenham Spa on...

Ashchurch for Tewkesbury to Bham University

Hi, I currently work at Birmingham University and commute from Ashchurch. A monthly Season Ticket is £316, and I am looking to bring this down. I realise I am very limited on routes due to it being direct, and the few trains that stop at Ashchurch. The outgoing train I catch goes straight...

Birmingham (Any Station) To Leamington Spa with LM?

Hi, We were looking to take advantage of the London Midland £10 anywhere offer. We were hoping to go to Leamington Spa from Hereford, but the 2nd leg of the Journey, Birmingham to Leamington seems to be only served by Chiltern and Cross Country and I believe the offer is only available on...
