I think I might also raise this with trading standards. The response from Eurostar is that they can't provide the service that was advertised when I booked and paid for a ticket. All of their proposed remedies to this involve me paying more money to them to receive the service I have already...
I also have my doubts the return train is cancelled. If I go here the train I was originally booked to travel on on the 8th November is showing as cancelled (09:01 from London)...
An update of sort. I originally complained to SWR and got an automated reply confirming receipt of my complaint, but I have never had any further communication from them. After approx 1 month I contacted them again referencing the original complaint and asking for a response. Again, I got no...
I did contact the Man in Seat 61 and he replied very promptly, see below.
So seems he agrees that there is no "on the day limit" as Eurostar suggest. I was hoping he might have had experience of this himself and might be able to help further but it doesn't sound like it. Meanwhile the promised...
Yes I am sure it's all quite deliberate from them. Don't tell anyone this law exists. If anyone questions it make up some rules to suit themselves and make things as difficult as possible in the hope people don't bother to claim what they are entitled to.
Good idea. I have contacted both.
I tried to speak to Eurostar again. They are insistent that this law 2021/782 only applies for trains cancelled on the day of travel and therefore because the train I am booked on was cancelled in advance they are not liable for expenses and won't pay expenses. They refused to allow me to...
I would prefer not to just turn up. One problem is that I have the booking confirmation email but not the ticket as I hadn't yet provided the required passport details. Now I have done that I got emailed the ticket for the outward but not the now cancelled return trip. Does that matter, I assume...
Thank you rvdborgt. I will call them in the morning as they were closed at 7pm today. I might opt to take the first train on the 10th instead (which would mean hotel etc). I suspect however they will try to argue that I was notified in advance so not entitled to that, but I don't see anything in...
I booked Eurostar from London to Lille (back in July) from London to Lille travelling out on the 8th November at 09:01 from London and arrive at Lille at 11:27 and returning on the 9th November departing Lille at 20:35 and arrive at London 20:57.
On the 24th October I was notified that the...
Was it? I thought it was still present in the conditions and that they went further and removed the statement about the timetable having to be published by 10pm even?
I still can't believe this is legal at least for those that bought tickets before any published timetable change? Surely if a...
I also got the same email today which states they were aware of the breach on the 8th September. It is over a month since then and they thought to tell me now? (I had seen this thread but assumed as I hadn't been notified I wasn't impacting, I guess not). According to the GDPR they are obliged...
If the slider says to turn off emergency alerts and it doesn't do that then it's a bug. It doesn't make clear that it only actually disables some of them.
How can this be correct? It must be a bug if there is a setting to turn off emergency alerts that doesn't actually turn them off? A thunderstorm and advise not to be outside during it (which was the alert I got) doesn't seem like a dire emergency but common sense.
Does anyone know how you turn these alerts off fully? I thought I had as I didn't get any of the UK test ones. At the weekend I got two alerts. I checked and my phone (which is Android) has "Allow Alerts" disabled and the "Extreme Alerts" and "Severe Alerts" settings underneath are also off...
It's also an issue if you don't buy anything and then have to be asked to be let out. For example maybe they don't have what you wanted. Or you were picking up a parcel, for example. This is different from station barriers where there is usually no need to get behind the barriers if you aren't...
I was in a similar issue and in my case the train I was booked on was cancelled and the next one took an hour later. SWR still refused the re-routing and I was told to raise a complaint. I did so and never got a response (it was over a month ago) other than the automated one. I will follow up...
It probably doesn't help, but I think you can also download the Ryanair app on a tablet or Kindle if you have one (though in the latter you have to "jailbreak" first).
You can also download the app to your phone and buy a ticket on that, to avoid the £10 surcharge. I think there is also a railway station beside Grand Arenas, which is often quicker, depending on when the next trains is to get to Nice centre, but it depends on which part of the centre you want...
I think the obvious thing (that will probably never happen) is to increase the Gatwick Express to 4pth as proposed BUT to remove the premium fares for using it. It seems crazy to me we have the existing Gatwick Express trains running mostly empty whilst people cram onto the Southern branded...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
