Morning All
I have a question. After the recent severe delays on HS1 since the introduction of the new timetable, and the complete lack of trains at all on Monday, I enquired as to whether Monday would count as a "void" day, and also having just renewed my season ticket, whether the disruption...
Got to Stratford at 6.10 and finally got a Dover train at 7.10, although very helpfully they refused to let it stop at Ebbsfleet to help out the people who needed to get there. As usual with South Eastern the station staff were being given no information by control/management, and left to wing...
Yep - actually Folkestone to London Terminals. Folkestone to Stratford is 42 minutes then I have 30 minutes bus/train/walk from Liverpool Street to my office making 72 minutes in all. The quickest realistic commuter journey journey via classic to/from Cannon Street AT THE MOMENT is the 17.44 to...
Yes it is - there is a whole thread about this under "HS1 Commuting". I've been doing it for the last week and works like a dream. Saves me 5 minutes as opposed to going into StP and no tube fare cost.
Even if that's the case, at least it will mean the pain of having to buy a tube ticket as well as the extra for HS1 will be deferred for a bit.
I'll probably use the StP - City Thameslink option then walk. Will add a bit of time on to the trip but still not disasterous.
Did the door to...
An interesting question re time saved. If you look at what they are going to do come the new timetable,I reckon to be saving around 13 hours a week travelling time, broken down by:
Out of bed 47 minutes later
Arrive at work 18 minutes earlier
Leave work 20 minutes later
Arrive home 16...
All went smoothly thanks - 29 minutes from leaving the train to arriving at work. Which means a net 5 minute improvement (and more importantly no extra cost of having to buy a tube ticket) on my previous quickest journey of StP to Moorgate nad then walking
Yes indeed - and very helpful your advice was too!! I quoted it to him (it didn't mean much to me being a mere passenger!), which he understood and obviously used to good effect!
I'll give it a go tomorrow morning - guess it will then be a case of convincing the staff at Stratford Domestic and...
Have just had a reply from Train Manager #1 - he has confirmed that my Folkestone to "London Terminals" (accompanied by HS1 upgrade) is indeed covered from Stratford Domestic to Liverpool Street!
There's a seperate thread on a similar vein already relating to using Stratford to Liverpool Street and whether tickets to London Terminals are valid ....I use the HS1 and have asked 3 different Train Managers since yesterday and have had 3 different answers!!
1 said "not sure but would find...
Sorry yes - I did mean Stratford!
I travel from Folkestone.
The SET website indicates that you will be able to connect to services into Liverpool Street. Interestingly it doesn't mention whether your ticket will be valid - I must admit when I saw the free bus service advertised in the new...
Now I'm confused - why is my ticket valid between StP and City Thameslink but not at Farringdon - which the FCC services passes through between the two?
Additionally - SET are stopping their HS1 services at Ebbsfleet International as of Monday onwards and providing a free bus service to...
Morning All - have been looking at the site for a while, but this thread made me sign up and post!
I travel in from Kent on HS1 and although it doesn't come to the right part of London for me, the pros of using this fantastic service outweigh the cons, and I'm lucky enough to have the ability...
