First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

I was just looking on Traveline South West to plan a journey from Bodmin to Hayle. The directions are to take the number 27 and then the number T1. Has the number 18 become the T1?

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

I have often caught the college bus which, starting from Cornwall College, brings students back to St Austell and Bodmin. I catch it from Penwithick. It follows a more direct route missing out Higher Bugle, Stenalees and Trezaise. It is a lot quicker.

Thank you 83G/84D. I see the launch was quite recent - 23rd January. Perhaps they should have left those security screens in place. It would have been less noisy for the passengers. The drivers must be closer to that high pitched whirring than the passengers, and I am wondering how they are able...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

On Saturday I travelled from Bodmin to Hayle and back by bus. I travelled on the number 27 and number 18. The number 27 was the usual uncomfortable double decker. It was interesting to go upstairs for once. Since I was travelling the route end to end, it was possible. Usually I am worried about...

DaveHarries, the buses were very busy in the 1950s and 1960s. Many people did not own a car and would depend on the buses to get to work. You cannot depend on buses to get to work these days, as I found out in 2003. I had a job involving an evening shift in St Austell. Sometimes the last bus...

TheGrand Wazoo Quote I do note that for someone who doesn't have internet access, you were able to post at 00:54.... --End Quote--- Hello, TheGrandWazoo, I notice you continue to try to discredit me. I cannot let this go unchallenged. Let me explain. I placed an order with BT...

TheGrandWazoo Your retort does not excuse the insult. You are now saying that it was not me but others waiting at the bus stop who are the lunatics. To use that phrase is insulting whoever you are saying it about. To say it was used in the TV series Doc Martin is not a justification. If you...

To reply: TheGrandWazoo, I find your suggestion that I am a lunatic completely insulting and highly offensive to me, and I am surprised the moderator allowed it. Things move on. I can remember there were never any buses on a Sunday in this area of Cornwall not that long ago. Never say never...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

TheGrandWazoo, as already explained, the reason I did not plan ahead was because it was an unplanned trip due to the unforeseen circumstance of losing my purse in St Austell the previous day, and there were no holiday notices in the bus I had taken on 31st December. That is why I asked the...

TheGrandWazoo, Thank you for the information. I did not know it was the same every year. Just one question - if it is the same every year, why not note it on the timetables at bus stops as a matter of course?

Unfortunately I was in Bodmin not Camborne. Nobody put up any signs in Bodmin even at the main bus stop. I usually plan ahead but, because I had left my purse in St Austell, I decided I had to travel as soon as possible because I had no money. There should be a way of finding out in a situation...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Written 01/01/2017 I took First Kernow bus 27 from Bodmin to St Austell yesterday to visit my brother. On returning to Bodmin I discovered I had left my purse behind, so I phoned my brother to say I would travel over the next day to pick it up. All my money was in it and my bank card, but my...

I predict the expansion of Stagecoach to Cornwall and fewer First Kernow routes.

Cornish bus operators (excluding First Kernow)

TheGrandWazoo, yes I was complaining to the forum. The forum seemed appropriate since it is about bus operators other than First Kernow. I feel a whole lot better now that I have told others about my experience. No doubt it will come to the attention of someone at Citybus. I expect someone keeps...

Cornish bus operators (excluding First Kernow)

I had a bad experience on Thursday when traveliing on the number 11 bus (Plymouth Citybus) from Plymouth Royal Parade (leaving 14.45 ) to Bodmin Mount Folly. The driver for the Liskeard/Bodmin stretch drove erratically. Several times I had to grab hold lest I fall off my seat. I was sitting at...

I think the driver will be in trouble. Lostwithiel Road is not part of the route of the 223. It starts from Bodmin General Station which is on the town side of the bridge and then goes out of the town towards Lanivet. As far as I can make out there are now only 3 routes into Bodmin for the...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

What will the new seats be like? I had a very uncomfortable journey yesterday on the number 27 from St Austell to Bodmin 11.20 am to 12.40 pm (it ran late). The seats were too high for anyone under average height and the front edge of the seats were too hard. I was in danger of getting deep vein...

TheGrandWazoo says that the Traveline site has the timetables, but I have looked and they are not easy to find. On the Traveline menu it says timetable lookup and you have to put in the operator name, the number and the location. There is also personalised timetable and you have to put starting...
