    Government advice discussion

I've noticed a lot less passengers on my bus! So far,as far as I'm aware, most drivers seem to be ok atm,but our bus company suggests a big reduction in services is likely. If all the staff seem ok,why would they reduce?

    Most exhilarating station approach

For me,it would be Cardiff Central. Coming from Queen St down the bank with a view of the magnificent station on the right. With the mainlines to Newport dropping down. Even from Newport climbing up the bank and a gentle right bend into the station. Although I preferred the former track layout...

The future does not look good for 141108

I dont think pacers would suffer shortages of spare tbh. Most other modern units share similar parts. It's only bodywork that is different Also, anyone purchasing a Pacer for preservation is unlikely to just let it rot so to speak. Maybe scrap merchants taking Pacers on can sell components to the...

    Transport for Wales 769's

The 769 story so far...... Total farce! Bet you a million bucks When they finally do enter service They will be very problematic! When were these supposed to have entered service? Might had been quicker to third rail the valley lines and use them as 319s. I thought the Valleys were...

    TFW Pacer withdrawals

    Unusual cancellation reason

One wonders if some excuses are just that! Mostly because normal passengers wouldnt understand the real technical reasons why a train would be delayed or cancelled. For instance..... Many years ago I was on a Milford Haven to Bristol TM train travelling from Swansea to Bristol. It was a class...

How have the UK's least-liked trains given such reliable service?

Pacers as a suburban train I guess is what is expected given that most are meant for short journey's,although some would still complain regardless of how long or even how short the journey was. Voyagers however are less acceptable as an inter city train due to cramped conditions, smelly toilets...

Train announcements with a sense of humour

I remember a TPE guard who announced how extremely delicious the sandwiches were off the trolley. Worth every penny of the £3.50.!

    Famous people on trains

Seen pop star Sonia a couple of times. Seen Jeremy Corbyn at Euston. Other celebrities seen include Pete Waterman,Richard Branson,Ken Dodd. Seen Ken Dodd in his local shop near Broad Green Hospital before it closed down. Was a really nice chap to talk to. Saw the Everton football team...

How have the UK's least-liked trains given such reliable service?

Ha,I remember Voyagers when they were brand new. Very problematic! I saw one limping into Stafford on one engine, that finally gave up the ghost in the platform! The driver getting out of his cab already 70 late swearing what a load of absolute rubbish lol. They do seem to be pretty reliable now...

What blue/green liveried train did I see between Preston and Lancaster this morning?

Ha,just realised my post was answered whilst I was posting the above lol. Strange one unless LNWR loan a 350 out to TPE in their colours. That would be my conclusion.

What blue/green liveried train did I see between Preston and Lancaster this morning?

Which begs the question. Are there any 350s used by or on loan to TPE with 61016 blue centre cars or even any in hybrid liveries such as those painted in LNWR running around with TPE centre cars etc? That's the only other conclusion I can come to?

What blue/green liveried train did I see between Preston and Lancaster this morning?

Not sure how many 350s have the 61016 liveried centre cars. The above is the only one I have seen, but sounds like this could have been the type of train you saw.

TfW to operate Class 37s on the Rhymney Line

Don't know where all th GA 153s are. I have only seen one all week. 153306. I did see one at Chester on my way down though. Slightly OT,but the Bay shuttles have been a 143 this week too. Surely if they replaced the 37s with 153s,they would need 3 on each service?
