Yeah basically if the training location is not your home depot then you get a car, a hotel room and all your meals paid for :)
Certainly takes the sting out of the training salary!
Well we're only 3 days in... day 1 was an induction, days 2 and 3 were PTS - nice and easy as I'd done it for NR just recently. Manual handling today! Rules we don't start until the new year.
When you get to DMI stage they'll let you change or add depots to increase your chances. They'd rather have you at a depot close to where you live if there's jobs available :)
Nah, he got in, he's nearly 2 weeks into his training course.
I suspect it's something to do with this:

I can't speak for other TOCs / FOCs but Freightliner asked me to get a certificate from Disclosure Scotland (I live in England) rather than the DBS for England and Wales - when I checked what the difference was I found that Disclosure Scotland don't put spent convictions on the certificate...
Could be - I applied for Barking and told them I had also recently passed all the assessments and have heard nothing. Could mean we've failed the sift straight out or could be as you say.
I'll have to decline if they do offer me a DMI as I will soon be starting as a trainee with Freightliner...
This is probably the best course of action in my opinion. Either that or reapply sooner and declare it this time.
No sense in (if he gets that far) going all the way to the DBS check and getting caught.
So they're giving everyone who lives a ways away a hire car? Seems excessive, the guy in my DMI told me that you might share one between a few people.
And thanks, same to you! I'll be watching this thread to see how it's going and to know what to expect in a couple of weeks when I start :D
So how are they doing it exactly? And how long before did you find out? Just curious because I'm on the Dec course in Ipswich so only a couple of weeks to go!
