    XC HST's

You have to remember the class 220 was the first Bombardier UK spec long distance unit, they were dipping their toes in the water. Thats why when the 222 fleet was built they were able to capitalise on the mistakes made when building the 220 and being able to actively see in service faults.

    XC HST's

At the time the Dft and Virgin ordered the voyager fleet, passenger numbers on XC were extremely low and the timetable which was not clockface and slow. The Dft and virgin decided on 4 and 5 car trains because passengers were not travelling long distances, they were travelling 'intercity' eg...

    Grand Central Class 43

The time had to come when Valentas had to retire. My grandad (ex freight guard who saw the end of steam) who has read posts on various forums with the war of Valenta vs MTU said he never seen anything like that since diesel killed off steam in the 1960's. A power car will eventually be...

    Your favourite model train ever!

My favourite model has to be the sound fitted Roco Class 754 in HO gauge. Lovely piece of kit, a close second is the Sound fitted Roco OBB 2016, the MTU R41 engine recording is a lovely sound. Beats them in real life, except 2016011....

    Skip bashing: is it wrong?

Ah yes those special highland brake blocks.

    XC HST's

I cant remember if the set menu's change weekly or 2 weekly. Yes the lasagne goes down well along with the ricotta 2 extremely popular choices. XC wont ever have a massive variety nor will any TOC, cost an could cause the company to make a massive loss on wasted food which is not being used...

    XC HST's

The meals do comply with franchise agreements. Sure their not amazing but since the menu change in june, FC passengers seem to be far more satisfied than pre menu change. There are no plans to fit additional equipment to utilise plates, the plastic trays cover enviromental health and passenger...

    XC HST's

Thats absolute rubbish, seating commitments? NO 4 will be in daily service from Dec 10 due to the Dft agreed extension of the NCL -RDG to SOU for the Cruise Liner Market every 2 hours. This means 4 voyagers will be displaced from the NE -SW route requiring HST's to fill the empty spaces.

Hitatchi IEP - Newton Aycliffe Site favoured

Washwood Heath is indeed still intact. Nothing has been levelled in that area as far as i can tell. Remember Hanson Traction, Boden Rail and Colas use the site.

    XC HST's

There are 220 diagrams and 221 diagrams. There is not a common pool for both, they have set diagrams. Sometimes changes are made to keep the service running.

    Skip bashing: is it wrong?

I believe the class 67's need to have modifications done before being able to reach the top speed of 125mph.

    Southern - Train Driver Recruitment

Southern Railway managers are like that. I had 5 seperate interviews for 5 seperate engineering or operational jobs at various depots after passing all the assesments as well in a year. It took months for them to get back to me with a decent response with the words, we will not be...

    Skip bashing: is it wrong?

I have not been able to do any of the Pendo drags to Holyhead due to work roster. need a final few locomotives to have scratched the fleet. Amazing first started with 57302 way back in 2002 for me, hauling a class 90 on a 2nd January 2002 with a Liverpool -Birmingham -London working.... 57...

    Skip bashing: is it wrong?

I was thinking more along the lines of booked passenger trains such as the VXC class 47's, Valley lines 37's and class 37's and 47's on the North Wales coast, but yes on railtours 46035 did seem to be the 'support' loco as it were.

    Skip bashing: is it wrong?

Nothing wrong with bashing skips, some people are 'mileage' men for class 67's. At the start of the 21st century that would have been considered suicide unless you were the red pen brigade, due to the amount of 'heritage' traction running on the mainline at the time. Personally i favour...

HST refurbs : Great Western v Cross Country

I am aware of this. The words 'Not working' can mean a lot in the railway worlds as i am sure many members know. The legroom problem i have never noticed to be perfectly honest. Ok some of the airline seats can be a little bit small but passengers i have spoke to onboard say they prefer that...

HST refurbs : Great Western v Cross Country

Personally I believe FGW & AXC win on different levels of their Refresh. Thumbs Up FGW:for the Buffet/Express Cafe design. AXC:for the seating layout and increasing the luggage space. Thumbs Down FGW:FC Leather Interior AXC:Electronic Seat Reservations not working.
