Trivia: Earliest services from each TOC

Would another way of looking at the problem be to look at the first service after the Christmas break when there was no previous day service?

London bus driver strike over pay?

As some routes are running 100% service today, I assume some bus companies are unaffected by the strike? If so, which companies are they, and why are they not affected? Are they the ones that are already well paid, or are different unions involved?

Waiting in the cold at Euston

Not a problem at Charing Cross where it is standard practice for SouthEastern drivers to leave the train with all doors unlocked. Passengers will start boarding, cleaners will run through emptying bins and collecting rubbish. A few minutes before departure the driver will turn up, do his checks...

Direct service from Warwick Parkway and Solihull to Newcastle today!

According to NRE that train is providing a direct route from Solihull to Birmingham New Street. Is that possible? I can't find it on Real Time Trains. Found it - but no indication it is stopping at Solihull

    Interesting Motorway services

I've sometimes wondered why there was never a motorway service area combined with a train station to make a well facilitated parkway.

    Trivia: Unusual timetabled services?

1H94 Cannon Street to Hastings and Hastings Since the faster service only arrives 12 minutes ahead of the slow service, and it takes 5 minutes to split them, I assume this arrangement is to accommodate short platforms?

    London Bridge reconstruction works

I see that platforms 1-6 are closed again this Sunday, with no services to Charing Cross or Cannon Street. Anybody know what is planned?

    Trivia: Unusual timetabled services?

Starting on Monday this service is unusual as it calls at two termini before heading to Orpington. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W47539/2015/01/13/advanced

    Trivia: Unique London bus routes

The 314 passes 7 stations on 7 separate lines and finishes on the tram link.

    Cannon Street closed this morning

Fixed? That would suggest there was a fault that needed fixing. All that SouthEastern have said ALL DAY is that there were safety checks taking place. On this forum since about 7.30 this morning we have known that the bridge needed repairing. Why was that so hard to share with thousands of...

    Cannon Street closed this morning

Looks like Southeastern are just cancelling all Cannon Street services at source. No attempts to reverse services at London Bridge platforms 1-3.

    Cannon Street closed this morning

No trains until 14.00 according to Southeastern Twitter.

Suggestions for suitable devices for use by gateline staff

Avantix machines are no longer available for new supply and the existing machines will no longer be supported after April 2016. I would imagine that TOCs have already begun the procurement exercise to replace them.

Every Tube ticket office to close

Tfl (or London underground) have offices at North Greenwich. They are in the building closest to the cable car.

    London Bridge reconstruction works

Oddly if I put in Hither Green and morning peak it says there is one direct service to Victoria. I can't find this in the timetable or on Real Time Trains.

Emirates Air Line - usage by tourists

Presumably the same logic why local residents get a huge discount on the Dartford Crossing?

Emirates Air Line - usage by tourists

For a trial period, residents of Newham and Greenwich boroughs can get a return for the price of a single, effectively half price. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/fares/emirates-air-line#on-this-page-6

    Fire at London Charing Cross

Platform Six inside, right by the buffers, which would have made evacuation trickier. Thankfully it was Sunday so not too many passengers.

Trainline booking fee, none for NRE??

My employer signed a deal with TheTrainLine, and gave instructions that all train travel had to be booked through them. When several of us lodged a formal suggestion for cost saving by not using them, the official answer came back from the management that the booking fee was outweighed by the...
