The Assessment Centre depends on the TOC, but usually includes ticket selling and checking tests, a concentration test (SCAAT or Group Bourdon), verbal comprehension, role play and a structured interview.
Yeah, thanks so much for the informative post, Munster. Fingers crossed :D

Just had a message from Northern regarding the Tuesday assessments. They might be moving them to later in the week or early the following week due to the strike on Monday and...
The "Future Opportunities" most likely means they are recruiting for a pool of candidates and there are few or no vacancies at present.
The recruitment process after online assessment would be a formal interview and an assessment centre. Those two could be in either order depending on the...
Hey,
Me and another member have the assessments soon also and have discussed it a bit near the end of this thread: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=112748
Also, there's the Group Bourdon tool linked at the top of this forum which has SCAAT capabilities.
Are you going to the...
Mine was at 1030 and I had been there since 0930. When you walked into the coffee waiting area thing, I was sat on the right by the fridge with a black folder.

Ah right, cool. Good luck with the assessments and let us know how they go :)
Yeah it is quite weird. Maybe they've got quite a lot of candidates, but even then I can't imagine not being able to fit everyone in to one day even if there were more than usual. They never mentioned Vic to me, not that I'd be opposed to the idea myself.

Has anyone had trouble printing practice SCAAT tests? There seems to be a lot cut off the side of mine to the point where you can only practice stage 1, as you cant see the second target symbols for stage 2, and obviously cant check your answers properly. I've tried altering the default paper...
Mine's not until the 26th.
I contacted Tom Green, the HR guy I've been in contact with, and unfortunately, I do have to retake most of the tests. To be fair it's only the ticket checking and selling I have done before which I'll be repeating. I've passed GB but not SCAAT, and some kind of...
Congrats on your success Munster. I've just heard today that I've passed the interview for Piccadilly and have the assessment day in a couple of weeks.
Thing is, I've passed a conductor assessment day before with FTPE last October. They're aware of this and said at interview that they would...
Well, I went for the interview today anyway. ATW seems like a decent TOC and Chester Station is pretty nice. The pay is a little less than my current job but is 15 hours less per week (35 down from 50) and has paid overtime (which I currently don't get). Seems like an alright position should I...
I totally agree and no way think I'm too good for this job. The only thing that worries me is that should I not get any of the conductor roles I'm applying for, next time I apply I'll be a cleaner and not a manager. I don't know if it would help or hinder my chances and whether I'd get any good...
So here's my situation.
I currently hate my job in retail management and don't know how much longer I can do it. It's that bad. I decided several months back to pursue a career in Rail, with the ultimate goal of becoming a driver eventually. I've applied for a lot of roles with varying levels...
