I’ve not heard it said like that before but I do believe you. People up there have been very isolated over the centuries. It was once said that pWalpole of upper Coquetdale speak the closes thing to an Edwardian english that can be found anywhere today. The shepherds up there also call the...
I’d have thought the bigger problem would be someone mistaking the metro station for the train station. Once when on the metro I got to South Hylton and started changing ends when a customer asked me when we get to Hartlepool. Turns out she was suppose to get her train from Heworth train station...
Nothing heard back from Newcastle DMI on 14th. Though I know several others who interviewed around the same time who have heard back. So it’s a waiting game I guess .
Not so long ago I think. I was born in 91 and I remember the cinema before the multiplexes. Folding seats, big velvet curtains in front of the screen and a lad in a red waistcoat selling tubs of Haagen-Dazs at the interval. Or hey… maybe I’m getting mixed up with the panto.
Had this email today.

One thing which I haven’t seen in a long time is one of those pens which reveals a naked lady when tipped upside down. Or equally a little plastic cruise ship sails from one end of the pen to the other.
Actually, you get about 12 minutes for each question, but it must be recorded and uploaded at the end of that 12 minutes, so you’ve got about 9 minutes to think.
you actually get as many chances as you want to re-record it as you can delete in the camera function if you know you’ve messed it up...
At each stage of the application/online assessment, if you are given the next part to do, then you’ve passed the previous part. If you get to the part where you’re asked to upload your certificates then you’ve passed all the online assessments.
I got through less than half and still passed.
I’ve just checked my emails form 2022 when I applied and failed the video interview, it took them about 1month to get back to me with my result.
I work here and only just learned of this. It seems lost property will now be located at Four Lane Ends. It seems to be part of a larger move of most non operational staff away from GHQ, which is a shame because I enjoy speaking to staff from other departments when I’m on my break.
Yep, we got a specific notice to staff informing us to be wary of potential dangerous actions from spotters on the day that the daylight testing started.
infact when the first unit was delivered to Hebburn there were trespassers on track.
To be fair they have a pretty robust policy about ASB, it’s just not followed, and in reality if they ask you to stop taking pictures then not a lot will happen if you don’t. Similar to what happens with anti social behaviour unless there are police present.
As a driver I can say that Nexus doesn’t care about people taking photographs, at least not in my experience. If someone is reported taking photos it’s because the staff member (driver, CSA, worker, etc) wants them gone. This is because we’ve all had bad experiences with people taking photos...
I recently stated to someone who was complaining about the length of time a new train is being tested for, that the testing is mandated by law.
I was then asked to back this up with links to the relevant laws, and specifically prove that the specific mileage of the fault free running is required...
