    Longest ECS move?

It changes by days run and periods but it is pretty regular to have Oxley - Euston, Birmingham - Wembley, Euston - Longsight, Manchester - Wembley, Crewe - Euston and for the 221s, Barton - Euston, Euston - Crewe CS, Crewe CS - Holyhead. Surely the award for the wackiest ECS has got to be when...

BBC - Operators call for new rail lines

I agree but the line never went through Higham Ferrers. It went through Irthlingborough, the station of which was called Irthlingborough & Higham Ferrers but Higham was served by a branch from Wellingborough via Rushden which has been partially re-opened as a preserved line - last weekend was...

The early HST PCs were built with Guard / luggage compartments which counts as passenger accomodation. Also look at the liveries... The West Coast LHCS Mk.3 rakes were formed of TSOs (Tourist Standard Open) and FOs (First Opens) whereas the HSTs are TSO (Trailer Standard Open) & TF (Trailer...

London Midland Euston-Crewe service is it needed?

Yes it is very much needed, being the only service for Atherstone & Stone stations and providing a now regular service to many stops. Rugby - Stafford is now possible, previously requiring going via Brum or reverse back at Crewe! They have indeed been pretty well patronised. On one occassion...

Does anyone know anything about the Birmingham-Stanstead route on CrossCountry?

What time are you travelling? Coming back from Birmingham in the aftertoon the 16.09 & 16.52 always have seats. The 17.22 is now booked for a 3-car so will probably have plenty of seats (never ran particularly busy when it was a 2-car). In the morning the 08.42 is your best bet - the 08.18...
